Great Cage but Poor Quality Control,

This review is from: Midwest Avian Adventures Protégé Bird Cage, Platinum (Misc.)
Brought the cage home and immediately started building. One of the qualities that attracted me to this particular cage was that it didnt require any screws, hammers or screw drivers!
CAGE:I decided to build the cage first before the stand. Everything went fine until it was time to put the dome on top of the four supporting walls. One of the pins (from the dome) has to go into one of the tubes (frome panel wall) kinda like a hinge. Needless to say they weren't lining up due to poor welding, poor measuring and cage not being level. After alot of useless frustration I got some help and together we were finally able to get the dome put together properly. STAND: Stand just like the cage doesnt require any equipment except maybe a rubber mallet to put the casters in correctly as they will not go in otherwise. All four lower panels went in correctly. However, when it was time to put the base (where the bird cage would eventually sit on top)on each corner of the base there are 2 pegs that must be connected to the lower panels. One of the corners was not spaced out enough due to poor measuring as if that wasnt bad enough one of the pegs on that very corner was bent! There was no way to fix this BIG manufacturing error. This cage was a dud. I will be returning it ASAP. What makes matters worse is that I paid for expedited shipping on this item from amazon! It was a huge dissappointment! PROS: if this cage was without any defects it would be sturdy, durable, attractive, functional, spacious, good for 1-2 small birds or one medium size bird. Good bar spacing. Food trays and perches appear to be sturdy. CONS: poor quality control, poor measurement of pieces, and poor welding job. KEEEP IN MIND: Due to the poor quality control you wont know what types of problems you will run into untill you start building the cage and deal with them as they come. In my case the stand was not something I could fix. Overall if this cage had no defects this would have been a keeper. Removable slide out tray is a good feature makes for easy cleaning.
