Okay at best July 23, 2008
My great dane managed to crack this pan in less than a month. I wish they made it about twice as thick.

Solution for Crappy Tray August 9, 2011
As a breeder of Great Danes, I have 7 of these. You would think that if you're creating and selling a product geared towards dogs 120+ lbs, you'd make and sell a product designed to stand up to the weight. You'd think wrong. The tray in this kennel is so thin, cheap, and flimsy if it's not already cracked and broken upon arrival, it will be soon after.
I have very mellow crate-trained danes. They are not "hard" on their crates by any means, but ranging from 115-160lbs, they're heavy. The tray in these things cracks along each of the wires on the undergrid. After going through MANY of these suckers, replacing the tray for $50 a pop, I found a solution.
Placing a mat or rug or blanket.. anything with some cushion, between the grid and the tray solves this problem, entirely. If your tray is already cracked and destroyed by the weight or your giant breed dog, duct tape the underside of the tray, and the top, and then put a rug under it. I just buy fleece at the fabric department on clearance, and double layer it on all of mine- it's a pretty cheap solution.

The rest of the crate is sturdy and hold up very well. I wish the tray could just be fantastic as-is. But it's not, and there's no better one out there, so that's what we've done to make do with that we have.

We needed the Midwest 1154U for our St. Bernard to grow into. The pan does its job, but $40 for a big sheet of formed plastic seems to much.

I bought two yoga mats that I joined together at the seam with duct tape. I then used the pan as a "cookie cutter" and used a utility knife to cut out a custom pad.YogaAccessories 1/4" Extra Thick Deluxe Yoga Mat

Shattered in 1 day
Our german shepard shattered this pan in 1 day after being kennelled for 4 hours. Probaby better off skipping the pan & just throwing a blanket in the bottom of the kennel.

Midwest Crate pan 1154u
The crate pan is in good shape and sturdy, but it is not the correct size. It's about two inches narrower than the crate. However, I purchased my crate in 2005. Read more

Flimsy and cheap
For a XXL dog crate, this thing is CHEAP. It is flimsey and was cracked when I recieved it. The packaging is not sufficient and won't hold up. I would avoid it.

The Pan is Made too Weak
The theory behind this pan is awesome but the pan itself, is NOT. I read other reviews about it breaking prior to buying it, well it broke on me too. Read more

My only real issue with this product was that it had a huge crack in it from being handled badly. The box was falling apart when it got here. Read more
