I have owned a Bissel and a Dirt Devil before deciding that it time to stop fooling around and get myself a REAL vacuum that would keep the house clean and not lose suction completely in less than 2 years. So I decided for a factory refurbished Electrolux, thinking that I can get away with both minimum pay and a great product. I was wrong. Later I went to Lowes to try a new Electrolux Oxygen and make sure that my disappointment was not related to the mere fact that my order was factory refurbished. It wasn't. The Electrolux was bad because it was bad period. I decided for Miele - my last hope. If that wasn't gonna do it, nothing was going to. Despite being the least expensive among the Miele models, this vacuum is an absolutely great piece, better than any other vacuum I tried, including more expensive ones from other brands. It is sturdy, it is very well made, it screams quality and it does the job as an excellent vacuum should. All other brands look like garbage compared to this one. The only downside may come for those who have really big houses and would need to step up to a larger model, which in Miele terms can be a bit pricey. Otherwise - superb product!!!

We live in a cottage with a dog, and the indoor air quality was getting so bad that I couldn't breathe at night (and I don't have allergies to anything). The old canister vac was pretty ineffective, and the worn-out cord was a fire hazard.

This canister vac, while a little expensive for the price tag, is such a fantastic replacement. I debated going down to Sears or Target and just picking up a hundred dollar vac like I've done many a time before, but they always disappoint me.

The operation of the Carina is smooth and extraordinarily quiet (the dog no longer hides when the vacuum is running). I upgraded to the optional HEPA filter and the exhaust air, while not pine-fresh, smells clean. A few basic attachments were enough to get window sills, shelves, crown molding, and floors done. It picked up enough dirt, dust, and dog hair that I can finally sleep soundly at night.

There's just one problem, which I have seen mentioned elsewhere -- short power cord (hence 4 stars instead of 5). This machine isn't going to work as well in suburbia; it's a compact machine for compact spaces, and probably more suitable for urban dwellers. I had to replug when moving from the kitchen to the bedroom, but otherwise, it worked great.

Well I spent 3 months researching all canister vaccums out on the market and kept going back to this miele. Yes it is very expensive (about twice the price of its competitors) but it definitely out performs them hands down.

My floors have never been so clean in the 16 years I have lived in my current home. I have mexican tile, pergo floors and carpet and the two attachments that come with the machine are incredible.

I have had machines break bits off themselves in the past because of my mexican tile (very uneven surface) and with the parquet floor head it is just a breeze to clean and it also does my concrete patio floor. Amazing and then the head can be washed and away you go again.

Your oriental rugs with fringe are no obsticle for this vaccum because you have so many controlled settings to clean with.

For the first time ever I was able to clean my valances without taking them down, what a huge time and energy saver.

My husband thought I was completely nuts spending this kind of money on a vaccum cleaner but I am here to tell you that I will have this one for years to come and the service I will get locally is wonderful too.

So treat yourself you won't be sorry, I know I'm not. I always hated vaccuming my house because I have a injured back but with this very lightweight model I do not have pain afterwards.

This baby assembles in 2 minutes so you'll be vacuuming in no time. The user manual is clear and concise. The vacuum is lightweight and easy to move. The 4 attachments - floor, upholstery/curtains, crevice, dust - are well-built and sufficient for most homes. It's very quiet - so quiet that my cat didn't run from the room! It picked up everything:

Kitty litter in the carpet - check.
Cat fur on the microsuede sofa - check.
Hardwood floors in the corner of the room - check.

Plus, it's absolutely adorable. I've used several vacuum cleaners before, including a Dyson, and this one's my favorite. Cleaning was so fast, I'm looking forward to next time. I don't know if this is typical, but I received it the day after I ordered it!

I'm really pleased with this vacuum. I love the size too. I live in an apartment with little storage space and it's nice and small but still has a lot of suction power. I've gone through so many vacuums in the last five years so I was a little reluctant to pay that much for another one but I can tell that this is a good investment, it just feels solid. It's so light and easy to use, plus I can clean the stairs with no problems. It's also easy to clean under furniture and hard to reach spaces. I wish I would have purchased it a long time ago.

This little vac is awesome- quiet, efficient, and even nice to look at! We have a mix of area rugs and wood floors- this vac works great on both. The other tools are handy for vacuuming under furniture, window sills, etc. It's a huge improvement over our Hoover upright as far as how much dust it traps and keeps in the bag. I always felt like a lot of dust was escaping our old upright- it was obvious when the sun was shining through the windows! The Carina doesn't seem to emit much "blow-by" at all. The cord is plenty long enough for me (that was one of the few negative comments I had seen about this model), and the "reel in" feature is perfect. I would probably recommend getting the "turbo" tool if you are going to be vacuuming a lot of carpet.

First, I want to say that I am NOT a housework freak, but I can't believe how well this vacuum cleans. And it's so quiet - I am amazed. But seeing as how I own so many German made products already, I shouldn't be surprised. The quality, ingenuity, and engineering excellence make this product a pleasure to use. The time it takes me to vacuum is cut in half, that's how effective this product is. I share my home with two large dogs and it picks up all their fur in no time. The parquet floor attachment I bought separately cleans the wood floors wonderfully even under the sofa and armoire. I am so glad I bought it; I only wish I hadn't wasted so much money on the Hoover's, Eureka's and Dirt Devil pieces of junk that I've had in the past and just hated. YAY!!! I finally have a vacuum cleaner that I love and love to use.

Amazon's listed dealer would not ship to Vermont where I live. A little research shows that there are a multitude of estabished dealers who carry Miele as official dealers. Almost all offer free shipping to all 48 contiguous states. The price is pretty much fixed at $379.00. Most provide 2nd day free shipping.

Perfection. Weighs next-to-nothing, virtually silent, takes up no space, does a FABulous job (and with big shaggy dogs I know what I'm talking about), and it's so adorable you don't mind leaving it out. There are no downsides as far as my husband and I can see -- forget the over-engineered Dysons and the pitiful weak others ... this is a great vacuum.

I have been searching for a quality canister vac for sometime now. I did not not want to take out a loan and invest thousands of dollars on the namebrands. The Amazon.com reviews for the Miele S4210 are 100% accurate and I am glad I trusted what others had to say. Before I go on, let me preface that I have a home with all hardwood floors. I cannot speak to the quality of this product on carpeting. I used the vac for the 1st time last night and found it hard to put down. It was cleaning so well...excellent suction. One of the best features I think is how quiet it is. I have 3 small children and before when I ran the vac they would run out of the room and hide it was so loud. Last night, they played right around me and I could hear them down the hall. You will not be disappointed.
