High Quality Vacuum,

I read a lot of reviews from other folks who had purchased Miele machines. Coming from a Hoover bagless with powerhead, I was worried about the extra cost of the Miele, the bags and the lack of powerhead. However, most of my vacuuming is hardwood or tile and what little is carpeted is not a worry. People remarked about the quality of the Miele motor and they were not kidding. Its very powerful and VERY quiet. I need to open the vent on hardwood, otherwise the head will suction to the floor. Its very light, moves easily, the cord retractor is quality and I like the "park" feature. All in all, this Vac is an investment in quality. Shop with confidence.

I purchased from ABT because no one could match the $399 price tag and free shipping they were offering. Everyone else had this vacuum listed at $579(I wonder if ABT made mistake?). The Miele Eclipse is perfect for my 1900sq ft. house. I have hard floors except in the bedrooms. I bought the Miele SBB400-3 XL Parquet Twister Floor Tool. It's 16 inches wide and the suction reaches to the edges(suction power is outstanding). It covers a lot of area fast. I bought the 10ft hose extension to add to the current hose. I hardly have to move the vacuum in each room. It's like having a central vac. I have brick floors so no vacuum rolls good on my floors. Although this vacuum rolls better than any other vacuum I've tried. It's quiet even on full power compared to any other vacuum. I also bought the miele accu nova rechargeable power head. It does very well on carpets and the batteries last longer than I imagined. It comes with two batteries. It took me 3 to 4 times of vacuuming 3 bedrooms with carpets before the one battery dies. I like having the rechargeable head because the hose is lighter due to no wiring. The only complaint I have is that the miele should include one of the parquet attachments with their vacuums. A must if you have hard floors.

The Miele S4582 with Hepa filter included is the third Miele vacuum cleaner we purchased in the last 30 years. Miele is German design, German engineering and German built at its best. Not outsourced in Asia.
The first two Mieles we owned while living in Europe were overall excellent vacuum cleaners. The only negative disadvantage was the hose cracked after 3 years of use. We used duct tape to solve that problem. We expected it to last longer since these machines are much more expensive than their competitors. Hepa filters did not exist then. The 2010 model S4582 is much smaller and lighter than its Euro predecessors. However suction has improved and they are much quieter which we found a hugh positive point. So quiet you can speak in the room with the machine on without having to shout. Its Euro predecessors we owned had a compartment under the top cover for the three attachments included (Crevice tool, Dusting brush, and Upholstery brush) in the purchase. This new model has a holder for the three attachments that attaches on the outside of the machine. At first a disappointment but it functions which is the second most important thing after the machine's overall suction performance. As mentioned above the old model's hose cracked. Technology has changed and/or improved. We think the new hose quality on the S4582 will outperform the old models we owned. Why? The plastics used seem to have improved and the hose is more flexible yet thinner. Hopefully stronger. It's so easy to clean under bookcases, on bookselves, on top of electronic devices, under low and behind display tables, corners, under, behind and around furniture etc. etc. There are many, many angle possibilities to manuever the triscope wand with ergonomic handle to get to your cleaning areas. You see your cleaning results and feel accomplishment. It just isn't that easy or convenient with an upright machine. Another positive point for anyone with dust allergies who's reading this review will undoubtedly notice improvement of air quality after you've cleaned with a Miele. If you are considering a new vacuum cleaner with a long lifetime and are willing to pay more than famous brand upright machines with limited capability, limited lifetime, we recommend you test a Miele at your local dealer before making an informed decision. We bought our S4582 through Amazon. So can you or another online authorized dealer. BTW, Miele has a fantastic 7-year motor warranty and over a 1-year warranty on parts when purchased from an authorized dealer. Update Nov. 27, 2010. The Miele S4582 we bought two and a half months ago we use approx. two times a week is a true pleasure to use in the house, both downstairs on tiles and upstairs on carpet. We don't have pets but if you do Miele has a model designed with an extra feature or two for pet owners. No regrets whatsoever spending the extra cost.
