Editorial Reviews

From Library Journal

Van der Rohe is one of the most influential architects of the 20th century. The master of the modern steel-and-glass skyscraper, he was a founder of modernism, the head of the German school of design known as Bauhaus, and the creator of such widely imitated landmarks as the German Pavilion in Barcelona and New York's Seagram building. Elegantly designed and illustrated with dramatic black-and-white photographs, floor plans, and classic details, this new edition brings van der Rohe's seminal book, originally published in 1964, back into print. There is little text: the photographs and drawings convey the "less is more" message. This edition benefits from an expanded appendix and several new color photographs of van der Rohe's most important buildings. A recommended addition to all architectural libraries.
