It works with the cards I use, and will output the card serial number, which is what I wanted it to, with no driver needed.

Simple device with a simple output.

I had an initial issue because the USB cable shipped with the device was bad (-1 star)

To reiterate what's stated in the Amazon Q&A section here's how to test the device with Windows.

1: Plug in device, red LED should light up solid within a second
2: Open Notepad
3: Scan tag. My tests indicate a read distance of 1 inch with passive Mifare tags. The reader will beep and the red LED will turn green for a moment.
4: Output to Notepad should look like '26601160' for a Mifare tag.

The scanning device is a keyboard emulator so your computer will react the same way as if you typed in numbers and pressed enter.

Apparently this only outputs a card serial, NOT the actual contents of the card. While this may work for some, it provides very limited options. It will NOT output the actual items I write to a tag, so the product is relatively useless.

It doesn't read HID proximity cards. Other than that...it looks like it works, I don't have anything else to test with :(.

Works on most devices with out any drivers and reads the tags serials and types it with an enter. This would have gotten 5 starts if it had work on all the sharp copiers I tried it on. We had barcode scanners before to log in to them. This device worked on two sharp copier models but not on two others. Either way save me over $200 since sharp wanted $150 per each scanner.

Note this cannot read or write content on the tag. It only scans serial and types it on device/computer.
