Issue clarification,
This review is from: Mighty Avengers, Vol. 3: Secret Invasion, Book 1 (v. 3) (Hardcover)
I just wanted to clarify that this book DOES NOT contain issues 12 through 19 as Amazon's description states. It only contains issues 12 through 15 which is a big difference in terms of content amount. Issues 16 though 20 will be in Book 2 released in January. Likewise, New Avengers Secret Invasion Book 1 also contains less issues than Amazon is stating although in this case it is only missing issue 43. Again, this will be in the corresponding book 2 released in Jauary.

I Was Sent the Wrong Item,

This review is from: Mighty Avengers Vol. 3: Secret Invasion, Book 1 (Paperback)
This was not the product I was shipped. I ordered Mighty Avengers Vol.3: Secret Invasion Book one and instead received a single issue, Mighty Avengers #7. So I ordered a trade that was pictured in the listing and instead received a single issue, with a cover that looks nothing like that pictured (This is in fact part of the volume 2 collection). Even worse, had I even wanted the single, it has a huge sticker on it, thus taking it from the "Good" quality it was listed it and making it rated as a "poor" book by the comic book grading community.

The MIghty Avengers: Pointless Tie-Ins Part 1,

This review is from: Mighty Avengers Vol. 3: Secret Invasion, Book 1 (Paperback)
I can't understand how this is Volume 3 of Mighty Avengers, hell I don't even think any of the Mighty Avengers (maybe Iron Man and Wasp) even show up in this entire book. And none of these issues collected in this volume have anything to do with the Mighty Avengers team. This is literally a collection of tie ins to Secret Invasion. Skip this one unless you really loved Secret Invasion (which honestly I couldn't see anybody getting overly excited about, it's pretty average)

"The Mighty Avengers, v.3"
by Brian Michael Bendis, et. al (Marvel Comics, 2009) ---------------------------------------------- A major installment to the "Secret Invasion" crossover event, in which we see a lot of the legwork done by the Skrulls in order to prepare for their infiltration of the planet Earth. Although there are several interesting moments, and a few blanks are filled in, it's kinda weird that the Avengers team itself is hardly featured. As in recent collections of the sister book, "The New Avengers," the actual super-group is basically sidelined so that the crossover mega-plot can be pursued. This is okay, once in a while, but when I read a title like the Avengers or the Fantastic Four, a big part of what I enjoy is seeing the interaction of the group members, and there is practically none of that here. Mostly it's solo stories, or flashback issues that follow the Skrulls as they stalk one hero or another... Also, Bendis works with a variety of illustrators; the best issue is the first in which he hits a nice groove with longtime collaborator Alex Maleev. But the book as a whole feels disjointed. Again, it's all in the service of the larger "Secret Invasion" storyline... But I look forward to seeing the Avengers back in their own book sometime soon. (Joe Sixpack, ReadThatAgain book reviews)

The "not so secret" side of Secret Invasion,

This review is from: Mighty Avengers, Vol. 3: Secret Invasion, Book 1 (v. 3) (Hardcover)
Like New Avengers, Mighty Avengers shifts gears into revealing additional aspects of what's going on as Secret Invasion runs it's course, and also like New Avengers, what you find in these Secret Invasion-based issues is pretty compelling material that fills in some gaps and fleshes out the overall backstory of Brian Michael Bendis' massive tale. This hardcover collection begins with revealing just what Nick Fury has been up to lately, staying in the shadows and in disguise (love the Sam Jackson-looking in-joke) as he formulates a strategy against the Skrulls, as well as forming his own team to combat them. Following that, we witness a tale of The Sentry that spells a bit on his place during this mega Marvel event, and finishes with the revelation of just how Hank Pym became replaced by one of the shape-shifting aliens. There's solid artwork throughout by frequent Bendis collaborator Alex Maleev, as well as Khoi Pham and the great John Romita Jr., with this book's only drawback being that it is way too short. Collecting only four issues, it seems Marvel's storyarcs and TPB's are getting shorter and shorter for the same list price. That aside though, there's much to admire here as Bendis fills out some gaps in the overall Secret Invasion saga, as well as planting seeds for future events to follow as well.
