Mighty Bright Silver Clip-On Reading Light

While the light itself is bright, the switch broke off on the first use. The internal switch is so flimsy that it will not remain in place to complete the circuit. I have to turn the light on with a paperclip. Don't waste your money.

This is the best book light available on the market. I've tried different styles; this one works best because it clips securely to the book, and it gives off the right amount of light, (which is not the case with other book lights; they are too dim). The only downside is that over time, the handle (where the bulb is located) does become a little loose, but still works fine.

Introduction and Main Features. This is a well-designed battery-powered (4 AA) clip on lamp designed for books, but adaptable for lighting up a laptop keyboard as well (just watch that you don't scratch the monitor or other computer parts). I've had mine for several years now, and its durability (despite its relatively hard plastic construction) is a plus. The spring-loaded handle gives a secure grip, and it has an easily moved on-off switch.

It's lightweight, a nice matte silver color, and I understand that replacement bulbs are available. If you're reading in bed with a light-sleeping partner, a more focused beam may be appreciated more by that partner, although you may need to adjust the light more often.

Light Movement. The arm moves up and down 360 degrees (although not all in one continuous motion, you can move it forward 1/2, then backwards the same amount), but it does not move laterally. Making up for this, the light fixture revolves 360 degrees in one continuous motion--great! WHile individual tastes will vary, I found the light coverage a night compromise between the extremes of too focused (covers too small an area), and too broad (too wide, and lose some lighting at the edges).

Power. As stated above, it works with 4 AA batteries. Please consider rechargeable batteries (such as eneloops) if you use this a lot, and find yourself replacing them often. FOrtunately, there's also an input for an AC power converter (to plug into your wall). Though the convertor does not come with this product, you might also want to consider this alternative. A great, inexpensive gift for yourself, or the reader(s) on your list!

very good deal on older type incandescent booklights. only issue was cost of shipping. it cost me $ 5.00 to ship a 20 lb. order of dog food, but this company charged $ 10.00 for a 2 lb. package. a little over charging for shipping.
