Telescoping Arm A Tad Too Short,
By
This review is from: Mighty Bright Telescoping LED Clip-on Reader's Light (Kitchen)
This is my second book light from Mighty Bright. I also have a Might Bight Xtra Flex 2-LED Book Light, which I absolutely love!
The Mighty Bright Telescoping Triple LED Book Light is sleek and attractive. It has a telescoping arm that retracts completely so the book light can double as a flashlight. With 3 LED's, this book light is BRIGHT! It is, however, only marginally brighter than the Xtra Flex 2-LED Book Light, which has only 2 LED's. It can be powered with 3 AAA batteries or with an AC adapter (included). The Mighty Bright Telescoping book light has one shortcoming: the telescoping arm is a tad too short. When the book light is used on a larger book, the light tends to be focused on the middle of both pages rather than diffused over the pages - even with the arm fully extended. This presents a problem especially for the top of the pages where the illumination is the weakest. The focused light can also cause a problem with glare on pages that are glossy or semi-glossy. The Mighty Bright Telescoping book light is ideal as a free-standing task light but it falls short as a clip-on book light. Overall, it is quite usable, but I would really recommend the Xtra Flex 2-LED Book Light instead. The Xtra Flex Book Light has a long and flexible gooseneck that can be easily positioned to direct the light for a more even illumination.
