5.0 out of 5 stars Liked it so much I bought a 2nd one to keep in the car. October 31, 2010

I love the Kindle but often wanted to read in bed at night and not disturb my wife. After reading reviews of all the lights I bought this one in white. Some commented that it was too bright, some said it blocked the screen, and some said it caused glare. In my experience the level of light is about perfect; I use both levels depending on the situation. I clip it on the the upper right hand corner (the the left would work just as well) and angle the light towards the screen and find that this eliminats all glare. I have a cover on my Kindle and it easily clamps on to the folded back cover. The clamp is padded and I have never had it come off. I decided to buy another one just to keep in the car for use when traveling or when I need to use the computer at night and want to illuminate the keyboard. This light works great with the Kindle but it's just as useful with conventional books and for other uses.

This is a great product at a great price.

I tend to obsess about finding the perfect solution for things, and this happened also with my search for a light for my new kindle touch, that I absolutely love. I ended up trying 7 different lights, and will post this comparison as a review for all of them. Hopefully others can benefit from my experience...

- Might Bright XtraFlex2: It is, indeed, mighty bright, but more in scope than in intensity. It casts light on a HUGE area, enough to disturb my partner in bed... On the kindle itself, it is only slightly brighter than other lights. Not enough to justify its size in my opinion. Which brings us to its other flaw - it is BIG. The clip is too large to clip straight onto the top of the kindle. I had to clip it diagonally. It seemed to work and be stable that way, but it is a big beast, and would not be convenient for travel, for me. Given that the illumination onto the kindle itself was only slightly brighter than other lights, I didn't think it was a good solution.

- Verso clip-on: Good travel size, very very blue light, not very bright, and it actually POPPED OFF my kindle when I tried to adjust the head of the light to shine in a slightly different direction. And while it's fairly small, it does not fold in any particular way, so it's not very compact.

- Verso Arc: Nice form factor, but I found the bright but somewhat uneven, and worst of all (which is why I returned it), if I held it in bed in a particular angle that I happen to like, the light reflected off the top of the screen in a really annoying way. Also, the light was VERY much on the blue end of the spectrum ("cold").

- Octovo: Also a compact light, but I found it very weak.

- Belkin Clip-On: As *light*, this was the best light of all.

1.0 out of 5 stars Great for books, not good for Kindle January 4, 2010

I use a Mighty Brite for books and bought another for my Kindle because I thought somehow it had different engineering or something that would work better with the screen. It is the same exact light except for a tiny pad on the part that clips to the screen. The light itself is awkward to pose, the clip slides around and there is such a glare on the screen that you cannot read the words without moving the light way out from the screen. Kind of ridiculous. They should NOT be offering this light as a solution for the Kindle.

1.0 out of 5 stars what a waste December 25, 2009
Verified Purchase
I recently picked this up when I purchased my Kindle. At first I was very pleased with it, found it to have a very good quality of light, although a bit on the bulky side for the small kindle.

However, within 1-2 weeks it begin to fall apart. The top part, featuring the light , begin to slowly unscrew and hang off by the cords without any warning, and the actual swivel did not hold its position, often returning to its previous position after you adjust it for a better light source

I recommend anyone who is looking to buy a kindle light to LOOK ELSEWHERE. I'm in the military and I needed a light that would be tough and could aid me when I was traveling, but before I even had the chance to go anywhere it was just a hanging light on a stick.. A flashlight would be more efficient, as this thing is a waste of money.

1.0 out of 5 stars Terrible on/off switch November 23, 2009

I loved this light....while it worked! The on/off switch is not reliable (flimsy at best) and when I asked about getting it replaced, was told I was out of luck. Keep this in mind should you decide to purchase this light.

1.0 out of 5 stars Mighty...Not so Bright January 9, 2010
I was thrilled to receive the Kindle this Christmas, and 3 weeks later, the MightyBrite XtraFlex2 Clip On Light to go with it for my birthday. I took it out of the package, put in the required 3 AAA batteries, and was extremely pleased with how much light this little thing put out. I am in a lot of situations where I am in low-lighted areas and try to spend that time reading on my Kindle. This thing was going to help a ton in those situations!

I used it one evening for about 2 hours, turned it off, put it on my nightstand and went to sleep. I went to use it again the next day, only to find that for whatever reason, it no longer works!!?? WTF?! I turned it off, so the batteries are just fine (and yeah, I double checked just in case). Didn't overly flex the neck of the thing. It just doesn't work.

Wait, scratch that, it will randomly come on for no reason at all if I have pushed the button to turn it on, but I have no way of telling if I've done that or not as it doesn't come on right away, it just turns on whenever it feels like it I guess. And only 1 of the 2 lights work.

So take that for what you will. I guess the majority of people have good luck with it and maybe I got a defective unit, but 2 hours out of the box worth of usage before it dropped dead on me just wasn't worth my time or money. Sending it back, will look for something else.
