I love the Kindle but often wanted to read in bed at night and not disturb my wife. After reading reviews of all the lights I bought this one in white. Some commented that it was too bright, some said it blocked the screen, and some said it caused glare. In my experience the level of light is about perfect; I use both levels depending on the situation. I clip it on the the upper right hand corner (the the left would work just as well) and angle the light towards the screen and find that this eliminats all glare. I have a cover on my Kindle and it easily clamps on to the folded back cover. The clamp is padded and I have never had it come off. I decided to buy another one just to keep in the car for use when traveling or when I need to use the computer at night and want to illuminate the keyboard. This light works great with the Kindle but it's just as useful with conventional books and for other uses. This is a great product at a great price.

Great for books, not good for Kindle,

I use a Mighty Brite for books and bought another for my Kindle because I thought somehow it had different engineering or something that would work better with the screen. It is the same exact light except for a tiny pad on the part that clips to the screen. The light itself is awkward to pose, the clip slides around and there is such a glare on the screen that you cannot read the words without moving the light way out from the screen. Kind of ridiculous. They should NOT be offering this light as a solution for the Kindle.

what a waste,

This review is from: Mighty Bright XtraFlex2 Clip-On Light (Kindle Version) Black (Electronics)
I recently picked this up when I purchased my Kindle. At first I was very pleased with it, found it to have a very good quality of light, although a bit on the bulky side for the small kindle. However, within 1-2 weeks it begin to fall apart. The top part, featuring the light , begin to slowly unscrew and hang off by the cords without any warning, and the actual swivel did not hold its position, often returning to its previous position after you adjust it for a better light source I recommend anyone who is looking to buy a kindle light to LOOK ELSEWHERE. I'm in the military and I needed a light that would be tough and could aid me when I was traveling, but before I even had the chance to go anywhere it was just a hanging light on a stick.. A flashlight would be more efficient, as this thing is a waste of money.

I loved this light....while it worked! The on/off switch is not reliable (flimsy at best) and when I asked about getting it replaced, was told I was out of luck. Keep this in mind should you decide to purchase this light.

Comparison between 7(!!) different Kindle (touch) lights...,

This review is from: Mighty Bright XtraFlex2 Clip-On Light (Kindle Version) Black (Electronics)
I tend to obsess about finding the perfect solution for things, and this happened also with my search for a light for my new kindle touch, that I absolutely love. I ended up trying 7 different lights, and will post this comparison as a review for all of them. Hopefully others can benefit from my experience...- Might Bright XtraFlex2: It is, indeed, mighty bright, but more in scope than in intensity. It casts light on a HUGE area, enough to disturb my partner in bed... On the kindle itself, it is only slightly brighter than other lights. Not enough to justify its size in my opinion. Which brings us to its other flaw - it is BIG. The clip is too large to clip straight onto the top of the kindle. I had to clip it diagonally. It seemed to work and be stable that way, but it is a big beast, and would not be convenient for travel, for me. Given that the illumination onto the kindle itself was only slightly brighter than other lights, I didn't think it was a good solution. - Verso clip-on: Good travel size, very very blue light, not very bright, and it actually POPPED OFF my kindle when I tried to adjust the head of the light to shine in a slightly different direction. And while it's fairly small, it does not fold in any particular way, so it's not very compact. - Verso Arc: Nice form factor, but I found the bright but somewhat uneven, and worst of all (which is why I returned it), if I held it in bed in a particular angle that I happen to like, the light reflected off the top of the screen in a really annoying way. Also, the light was VERY much on the blue end of the spectrum ("cold"). - Octovo: Also a compact light, but I found it very weak. - Belkin Clip-On: As *light*, this was the best light of all. It is the only one that was truly "warm" (more like daylight), rather than blue. I loved the *light*. BUT, it is NOT adapted for the kindle touch!!! The adapter they send is for the kindle *keyboard* (as off Dec 2011). It just keeps falling off the kindle touch. With tried it with my partner's keyboard, and it fit perfectly. So watch out for that. Furthermore, it IS bulky. I could live with the bulk because I loved the light itself so much, but if it keeps falling off, that makes it useless. If they ever come out with a version for the touch, I might buy it just to have by the bed, and use another light for travel (see below). - Kandle (regular): Form factor wise, it is the nicest and most elegant. Fits on the Kindle like a glove, and even fits into my Belkin sleeve for the kindle. Yes, the light on the screen is a bit uneven (weaker at the bottom or on the further side, depending on whether you have it mounted on the side or the top), but not terribly so. BUT it has two major flaws. (1) When you close the lid, the light does not shut down automatically. And once it's shut, you don't notice it's on. Easy to go through a set of batteries per day in this way... And (2), the on/off button is too easily pressed. I pulled it out of my purse to find the light on, when I know I shut it off. So if you'll have it anywhere where it might come in contact with other things, again, watch out for battery issues... - Kandle Flex: This is the one I ended up with. Again, like the other kandle, fits on the kindle like a glove. It's very compact, easy to adjust the direction of the light without disturbing the base (unlike the mighty bright or the verso clip-on), very compact, small form factor, and decent light. Because the direction of the light is adjustable, it's easy to get relatively even light throughout. The only negative I have is that the light is not quite as warm as a the belkin (but I am not sure it's doable with "watch" batteries), and is a touch weaker than I'd like, again, I think because they use watch batteries. In exchange, you get a very nice, light, compact form factor. So, while not perfect, it is, in my opinion, the clear winner in this lot, and the one I ended up keeping.

Mighty...Not so Bright,
By Disillusioned (Phoenix) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Mighty Bright XtraFlex2 Clip-On Light (Kindle Version) Black (Electronics)
I was thrilled to receive the Kindle this Christmas, and 3 weeks later, the MightyBrite XtraFlex2 Clip On Light to go with it for my birthday. I took it out of the package, put in the required 3 AAA batteries, and was extremely pleased with how much light this little thing put out. I am in a lot of situations where I am in low-lighted areas and try to spend that time reading on my Kindle. This thing was going to help a ton in those situations!I used it one evening for about 2 hours, turned it off, put it on my nightstand and went to sleep. I went to use it again the next day, only to find that for whatever reason, it no longer works!!?? WTF?! I turned it off, so the batteries are just fine (and yeah, I double checked just in case). Didn't overly flex the neck of the thing. It just doesn't work. Wait, scratch that, it will randomly come on for no reason at all if I have pushed the button to turn it on, but I have no way of telling if I've done that or not as it doesn't come on right away, it just turns on whenever it feels like it I guess. And only 1 of the 2 lights work. So take that for what you will. I guess the majority of people have good luck with it and maybe I got a defective unit, but 2 hours out of the box worth of usage before it dropped dead on me just wasn't worth my time or money. Sending it back, will look for something else.

Wow, after using this product for 10 minutes, the light went out. I thought it was the batteries, so I replaced them. Still, the light will not turn on. Save your money and get something else.

Doesn't Travel Well,

This review is from: Mighty Bright XtraFlex2 Clip-On Light (Kindle Version) Black (Electronics)
I've got both the Mighty Bright and the M-Edge e-Luminator2 Kindle Booklight (Fits 6" Display, Latest Generation Kindle). The M-Edge, while requiring a M-Edge book cover and having an anoying 3-way switch where the middle possition is off, still beats out the Mighty Bright. The Mighty Bright does appear to be well constructed, durible, and gives off plenty of light. It can be used for a variety of applications (other than reading a book on the kindle) and could easily be used as a booklight on a hard cover paper book (the M-Edge could not). It's got a clip on design that holds well without having an unnessicarly strong spring, which makes it easy to clip on and off. I don't get the feeling that this light was in any way specifically designed for the kindle, other than it happens to fit on one and it has some padding on the camp that won't scratch the device. While I perfer the light of the M-Edge slightly better thant he Mighty Bright, the quality of light is just fine. My biggest gripe with the product is the on-off button. It's a very easy push button on the top of the light, which goes from most powerful setting, to dimmer setting, to off. The button is so easy to push that it has no problem turning itself on in my bag. I only use a booklight when I travel and the light spends a majority of it's time in my bookbag. I don't believe there was a single time that I put it in there and didn't find it on when I went to take it out. There was no way of preventing this short of taking out the batteries, which is not a solution for me. I wish that there was some way to prevent the light from turning itself on, perhaps an additional power on/off switch, or even a plastic gaurd that slides over the button, anything would be better than the design it has now. It's also suprisingly bulky, in size more than weight, but all and all, for someone who likes to travel very light it feels like I'm packing a lot of stuff when I take this light with me.

Does not work with new Kindle,

Does not work with the new $139.95 Kindle! Because of the long reach of the grip, it can only attach to either the screen itself or the keyboard.

Review for use with Kindle 3,

This review is from: Mighty Bright XtraFlex2 Clip-On Light (Kindle Version) Black (Electronics)
I bought this light for my new Kindle 3 which is my first Kindle. Everything I read suggested it would work fine but the Kindle 3 is smaller than previous models with tapered sides which makes it hard to keep this light attached. It seems to fall to the side or snap off. I've resorted to placing in on the dresser standing up which works better than my other options though I'm disappointed this wasn't a better solution. In every other way the light seems to be well made and works fine, just not as I was hoping to use it.
