This review is from: Mighty Bright XtraFlex2 Book Light with Adaptor - Purple (Baby Product)
I bought a purple light with the adaptor. My main desire was to use it to read during my morning carpool commute to work. I loved this product so much that I bought three as gifts and am ready to buy one more.
There are three versions of this light offered for sale. One is just the light. One includes an adaptor. One includes batteries. The light does require 3 AAA batteries if the adaptor is not being used. I've found it available in blue, green, silver, black, purple and pink. I have been using this light for over a month and am still using the same batteries. I have yet to use the adaptor. The batteries are more convenient for me. I had purchased rechargable batteries and a charge but haven't broken into them yet. There are two lights on this product and three light settings. The left, right or both lights can be used. The neck is flexible so that it is easy to move to a position that actually sheds light on the entire page (if not two pages). It is bright. My husband still complains when I read in bed with it...however, it doesn't bother my carpool driver. The clip is large and will easily attach to hardcovers. I usually clip it to the top of the pages that I've already read. When reading mass market paperbacks, I try to clip it to as large of a hunk of pages as possible because I don't like the light to move around. A very useful product. Make sure to buy only what you need. As I did pay extra for an adaptor and just don't use it at all.

2-LED allow for brightness control, long battery life, light a little bluish,

I received one of these (black, no adapter) a few months ago and my verdict is that I am likely to use it when reading books at night. I also don't feel that I'm missing the adapter.
Brief overview: - 2 bright LED's with lenses - light has more blue and very little red, or yellow (think of a steady neon light) - uses 3 (THREE) AAA batteries which makes the base a little heavy - 40-hour battery life (claim is made on the package, not exactly timed by me) but it does feel like it lasts forever on a charge - power adapter does not justify paying twice as much for this book light given the long battery life and the inconvenience of running an electric wire on your bed - relatively long, flexible arm - can turn on 1 or 2 LED's - solid build - a bit heavy but had no problem using it with a paperback I will definitely use this lamp when reading books at night. I doubt I will ever use it as a flashlight or a work light unless I had no other choice. If I were to buy another book light today it would be a Mighty Bright but I would go for the 'no adapter' version which sells for about half the price.

When it's done, it's done.
Pros: I like the lighting level and options, the clip is very secure, and you can stand it on its base on a desk to illuminate a keyboard. Like the color, too. Cons: I have bought four of these over the past couple of years and as of now only one is still bright, because I took it apart and fooled with the connection. Two are very dim, and one has konked out completely. I use them with adapters, not batteries. One thing I never thought about on initial purchase was that there are no replacement LEDs; at least, none that I am aware of. As another reviewer commented elsewhere, the replacement bulbs are for the classic Mighty Bright that has the mini-bulbs you actually thread into the fixture; they are not for the LED lights. Not sure how long these should last and while I've used them a lot, when I add up what I've paid for the lights and adapters, methinks I paid too much. Editing a 5-star review down to a 3.

This is the best booklight ever!
I read in bed alot, and have burned out many disposable book lights, and find that ones that need bulbs and/or batteries I go through them like crazy. Not cost effective to use lots of bulbs and batteries. Now, I find this one... Yay me!! This one has a power adaptor, has an LCD light, has a flex neck, has two settings, 1 light or 2 with the touch of a button. Greatest ever! Oh, and if I need it to, it does function on batteries as well. So great, I got one for my daughter!

This thing is great. I have used a variety of book lights over the years and none compare to this light. It is easy to use and has two "light" settings. One is brighter than the other. The bendy head lets you angle it any way you want. It is light enough to use on any book. I use it on all of my paperbacks. You can use it plugged into the wall or with batteries. I bought one for my mom and she said it is the best light she has ever use as well.

This light is only about half as bright as I was expecting, especially considering the feedback about how bright the light is. One reviewer said her husband had trouble sleeping when she was reading in bed because of the light. I have no such problems. Picture a flashlight whose batteries are on its last legs. If the light was any dimmer, my eyes would be really strained.
On top of that, I noticed after about two weeks that the on/off switch no longer works predictably. I sometimes have to press it two or three times for the light to come on. Or it takes a good 2 or 3 seconds for the device to respond and the light to turn on. I purchased it with the AC adapter, so I spent $26 for a device that doesn't work so well and I'm kind of disappointed. I can still use it, but it seems a lot of money for something that only works half-assed. Maybe I got a defective one. I've seen these at Borders for about $14 without the adapter. So if this one dies or keeps deteriorating I might give it one more try since I won't have to buy the adapter again.

I initially got this as a book-light... but have also used it for middle of the night emergencies.. I clipped it onto the headboard of the bed and it's become a multi-purpose little tool. Sheds just enough light that I'm able to read and see and not disturb my husband. Glad I found it, and bought it!

Over the years I have tried many different book lights and never really been satisfied.
I resorted to having a small lamp next to the bed, but this wasn't really practical. Recently I purchased an e-reader and someone recommended this light to me. It is terrific!! I can clip it to a regular book and it leaves no marks. I can clip it to my headboard for night reading or I can clip it to my e-reader cover. Plus, it is portable, so I can travel with it as well. The best thing is it has an adapter, so I don't need to worry about using batteries when I am at home. Is it the smallest? Is it the slimmest? No, but it doesn't need to be, it is so versatile in other ways, I am more than willing to give up a little extra space for it. It has 2 light settings, the neck is bendable to give you the light exactly where you need it, and you have the option of batteries or adapter. I am so satisfied with this product I am already thinking of buying an extra.

I ordered two of these lamps. One didnt work right out of the package and I made arrangements to return it. One worked fine for less than an hour. Then the lights started turning themselves off and the lamp finally stopped working altogether. Unfortunately, I threw away the packaging so I cant return it. And, even more unfortunately, I ordered several more, thinking they'd make good Christmas gifts. I certainly wont give these to anyone I like!

I was very please with all three of the book lights I purchased. I bought two for gifts and one for myself. My Mom can finally read again with losing most of her eyesight due to an illness. The light works wonders, my grandchild reads more that she ever did because she feels like an adult.
