Made me a joe pace fan,

Up until this point I had not really been a Joe Pace fan. I'm a fan of church shoutin' and rockin and rollin choirs and Joe seemed a lil tame for me...well I picked up this CD because Lowell Pye from Men of Standard is featured on 4 tracks. If you're a John P Kee and New Life Community Choir fan then you know who Lowell Pye is. Needless to say Hallelujah Anyhow, Glad About it and Mighty Long Way are the gems of this album. Lowell shows you how talented he is and that he can stand alone and shout with anyone. This man is truly annointed.
Some reviewers were upset that there is not a lot of new material on here....which is true....but I like the live versions much better and in the case of hallelujah anyhow and glad about it...they are really taken to the next level with the new arrangement.

Recordings from Joe Pace stretch back a decade now,

Recordings from Joe Pace stretch back a decade now and Mighty Long Way (a live double CD subscripted `The Vision Comes Alive') is a large scale project including songs from previous releases.
Mighty Long Way is a quality product before you open it. A close look at the cover reveals the 120 strong choir and live band with string and brass sections. You can't put together personnel this size with successful results if the writing and arrangements aren't up to scratch. And sure enough Mighty Long Way is a top-end rendition of the pure gospel sound; reminiscent of the Thompson Community Singers at their peak but with improved creativity and a more polished delivery. I love the way the songs flow into each other to form medleys. Why break up songs when you can have continuous praise instead? Stay on your feet with the relentless yet flawless Pace Mega Medley (tracks 3 to 8) which sets out the credentials for the album. Then on ending Offering of Praise (track 9), perhaps with band, choir and audience mopping their brows, Joe Pace reverently and truthfully reminds us all that it is all about the worship and not the performance. Love it! Watch out for `So Good' (musicians jam the end), the encouragement of `While You Wait' (another music-fest), the totally overpowering `Speak Life' and `It's Not Over' then bask in the sublime `Worship Medley'. No dips. No qualms. A must buy!

Didn't really enjoy this 100%,
This review is from: Mighty Long Way (Audio CD)
Umm, I don't like the sound of the choir. They look over 150 strong, but they are singing like they're tired and it sounds like 20 or 30 people singing falsetto. Not one of the best in my opinion. Some of the songs are nice though.

A bit long...but a good project,

This is an album that is long in proportion to Joe Pace's last project as it is a double CD.
Both CD's have their own highlights, but the first CD in particulaer is the one that has many of the songs that Pace had on his last album "Sunday Morning Service". These songs include "Enter In" and "High and Lifted Up". A good album if you're a Joe Pace fan; if you've never heard of him listen to his last projects and "Mighty Long Way" will be worth the wait...

Mighty Long Way is a beautiful collection of Joe Pace's work. It hits the soul right where the Lord wants it to be hit. The remixes of Stir Up the Gift and Enter In are worth hearing over and over. It was a wonderful worship experience!

This is not what I was expecting. Disk 1 & 2 have songs from previous albums. I do like the way he has remixed the songs.
Not Happy. |
