Did she say "privilege?" Contrary to the modernist's view of the woman's role in society, Diaz isn't kidding when she extols the virtues of the traditional mother in this new millennium.
After spending years chasing four sons around the house, discovering the peanut butter and jelly sandwiches left in the laundry hamper and cleaning the footprint tracks off the ceiling, Diaz decided it was time to stop complaining about her role as a mother and start writing about it. That, along with the nudging of fellow author Ken Boa (Diaz' close friend and agent), resulted in her first book The Adventures of Mighty Mom. Diaz refers to her latest work Mighty Mom's Secrets For Raising Super Kids as her "opus" cleverly packaged into 16 fun-filled, thought-provoking and hopefully life-changing principles.
"Every story and every principle arises from my contact with the four young men in my life," Diaz says. "They and their father are obviously my main sources of inspiration. Also, imagining God and Erma Bombeck having a discussion about the idea or event I'm trying to convey helps me with my perspective!"
With her unique blend of heartwarming vignettes and downright hilarious true-life stories, Diaz ultimately hopes to inspire mothers of all walks of life to new heights and to a greater appreciation for the role that they play in the home.
"In my books, I want mothers to find help, hope and humor," Diaz says. "I want them to come away from each chapter feeling reinforced and refreshed and ready to love their kids."
Born in Endicott, NY, Diaz is a full-time author and journalist based in Lakeland, Fla., with her husband Edward. They have been married 30 years and have four sons, Zach (age 25), Matthew (23), Ben (21) and Jonathan (18). The Diaz' attend First Presbyterian Church in Lakeland. She is an Ivy League graduate, earning bachelors and masters degrees from the University of Pennsylvania.
