I had this gate system installed a few years ago, it died within 18 months. I went through all of the trouble shooting I could think of (replace fuses etc) and still could not get it working. I contacted the company and they sent me to their local dealers and distributors to try and find a repair person. I finally got hold of one and he (their recommended repair person) told me the gates were junk and he would not repair it. He did offer to replace it with another brand but otherwise he would not visit me. I went back to the company for help and they will not respond. The gate was barely used, maybe 5 times a week. If you read this review and think that it cannot be that bad, I promise you it is. Find another brand and save yourself some headaches.

Was somewhat intimadated in the beginning, but if you follow the instructions (I read them over several times and highlighted what would pertain to me), it was really pretty easy. Lots of wires to keep track of. My gate is solar powered - got my panel elsewhere, as I found their panel to be overpriced. Was pleasantly surprised to discover that the gate opener works well over 100 feet from the gate (which is ONLY advertised as operational at 50-100 feet on the back of the opener packaging itself). Bought two openers thinking I could keep one in the car and one in the house, but gate will only read one opener at at time. Overall, I am pleased with the gate and really pleased I will not have to get out of my car in inclement weather to open/close gate.

I would give this ZERO stars but am not offered that option!

I bought and installed this GTO 352 dual gate opener. Two weeks after installation it was totally dead. I sent it in while under full warranty and was told that "lightening" killed it and it was NOT covered by the warranty. I had to pay $100 to fix a product that was two weeks old.

I got it back and reinstalled it using an expensive lightning and surge protector. Guess what?

One week later it's dead again! This time the secondary opener is in the full out position and won't close.

Poorly designed, poorly protected against power surges and the warranty is worthless.

Find another brand, this one is junk!

Nothing but junk. Many problems and GTO customer service SUCKS.
I would never recommend this opener. I had to replace it after 1.5 years.

Great heavy duty gate opener. It's very adjustable based on the size of your gate, how heavy it is, how much force is needed to open the gate, etc.

It's a little slow (compared to a garage door opener for instance) and it's annoying that it can't be programmed to work with standard garage door opener remotes.

But it works great and I've had no problems with them (I own two) for years.

I bought one of these and it lasted a few weeks past the warranty period. It costs a lot to get it repaired, so I am chucking all this mass of stuff in the dumpster - such a waste. The mounting hardware and related parts are poor quality and corrode right away in our humid climate. It is a very cheesy method for mounting the arms to the brackets so the the gate has a lot of play in it and is hard to adjust the stop point because of this. If you need a crappy opener for no more than one year, this might be a low cost option. I just wish I could go back in time and spend the money on a really good comercial opener. Also wish I'd read more reviews before buying.

I bought the unit because one of my neighbors has had one for the past four years and it has worked without problems. I wanted an exceptionally clean and lasting installation, so I put all wiring into conduit to prevent damage from gophers and cracking of the cables from sun.

I had some initial problems that were related to the installation, rather than the hardware. The factory wiring was too short for my conduit installation. Thus, if using conduit, I recommend that you measure the cables and make sure that they are long enough before laying the conduit. The other problem I had was that a couple of the plugs on the pre-wired cables separated from the cables when I pulled them through the conduit. During this process, I went on GTO's web site and downloaded a troubleshooting guide and called GTO. Be aware that both the troubleshooting guides and tech support expect you to be familiar with electronic installations.

My gate opener works fine now.

I did not give the product four or five stars because GTO was too stingy on the cable lengths and because tech support service was spotty. Although they made reasonable attempts to help diagnose the problem, the response I got (i.e. returned calls) was mediocre.

One final note, the online throubleshooting guides are very good (if you are unfortunate enough to need them).

The gate works great, but this is NOT going to be installed by the average do-it-yourself home owner even though the technical help from the manufacturer is way above average. The circuit boards are more exposed to the elements than I'm comfortable with, you can't install if there is a danger of rain at all. Part of our problem came from having a defective part, so it had to be sent back, replaced by Mighty Mule and then reinstalled.
