a redemption theme--the guy starts off really obnoxious and macho but after experiencing the guileless kindness of the woman, he becomes truly heroic.

I wound up really liking both characters. Both are strong.

Steamy yet also innocent. Takes place on an island. The attitude towards sexuality is upbeat and positive.
