This review is from: The Mighty Wurlitzer: Highlights of Movie Theater Music (Audio CD)
Never before has the world seen such a tragically bad CD. Think Monty Python 'intermission' scene. Now make it an hour long, and unbearably jolly. Now you have the musical travesity that is the MIGHTY WURLITZER.

I originally bought this on tape from a motorway service station bargain bin on the outskirts of Edinburgh, near a godforsaken go-carting centre. On returning to the car and my friends, it lasted about 10 minutes in the tape-deck before the driver of the car opened the window and threatened to throw it out.

I eventually lost that tape somewhere. Imagine my joy when I discovered the very same album on CD for only one pound in a local record store. On CD, and three times cheaper than the tape!

An air of the ridiculous permeates the CD - you can sense the session muscian really going for it, throwing himself into it, as the Wurlitzer Organ heaves and pulses and stubbornly refuses to sound musical.

It has moments of the funerial about it, moments of melodrama, but mostly moments of absurdity. If you love kitsch, you'll love this CD.
