3.0 out of 5 stars Educational and fun, but magnets don't stay on January 23, 2009

My 3-yr-old liked this game. He even continued with it after I got interrupted, and was excited to show me how he'd put the shapes together as required. I bought the magnetic version for traveling in the car, but the magnets have fallen off. I pressed them on carefully, but they just don't stick well. At least the game can still be played without them, but I had expected better quality...I'd assumed the tiles themselves would have a magnet sealed inside. So with this version you're just paying extra to stick little magnets onto the tiles yourself.

5.0 out of 5 stars Super Glue makes this AWESOME May 12, 2009

I bought this toy a year ago for my then 2 year old son who is not very fond of puzzles. Alex loves "Shapes" as he calls it. While many other toys have been forgotten, he will often grab the tin and bring it to my husband or myself and say "Play with shapes." He quickly mastered the easier puzzles and likes to watch us complete the harder ones - with his assistance of course. It is a great game and helps kids master shapes, colors, compare sizes - big and small, spacial relations, critical thinking, blah blah blah. It's fun! I am also a 5th grade teacher and I use this in my classroom when I introduce geometry and area of a two dimensional object. While it's true that the adhesive on the back of the magnets is not all that sticky, Super Glue is very sticky and since we always have it on hand for toy repairs it was a quick and easy solution.

Like the other reviewer, our magnets just didn't stick to the plastic pieces. We didn't play particularly roughly with them... I even used white glue to try getting them to stick better, and that doesn't work, either.
If you know a way to get the magnets to stick, go for it. Otherwise, buy the non-magnetic ones. I suspect that simply gluing a magnet onto the non-magnetic set would be as effective, if not more.

The puzzles are great, though, and my three year old loves making the pictures. My only complaint is that the magnets didn't stick.

5.0 out of 5 stars GREAT game!
Wonderful game that younger kids can play on their own (for the most part). Would reccommend to anyone with young ones who need independent entertainment from time to time :)

4.0 out of 5 stars Good, not great
Requires assembly of magnets, which isn't hard, just takes a little time. Good variety of skill levels. Three year old loves it...

3.0 out of 5 stars Original is better than the magnetic!
We have the original version of Super Mind. It's too old for my 3 year old daughter, but she does pretty well with the lower number cards and some help. Read more

This toy is excellent for its educational value, however, the magnets have fallen off a few of our shapes. Read more

3.0 out of 5 stars The cons outweigh the benefits
I thought the idea of it being magnetic was a great idea. I think the company did it a little on the cheap side cause the peices are the same as regular mighty mind. Read more

4.0 out of 5 stars Magnets don't stick; just get the original
I got this because I thought it would be easier for my three-year-old than the regular Mighty Mind (the magnetic pieces would stick instead of sliding all over). Read more
