Migrating Forms DOES capture a very similar atmosphere to Eraserhead, but don't expect the same thing. James Fotopoulos is one of the most truly original filmmakers of the past decade and has his own style. Even if you watch something like "Zero" (by the same director) you can compare it to early cronenberg... but don't expect the same thing at all. If you're NOT eager to watch something new and fresh, stay away from this one. This film has a very slow pace and overall is simplistic in a way. The music will make you cringe with it's repetition.. There are some very powerful scenes here that are disturbing and genuinely unpleasant. The scenes along with the music will make you want it to stop.. and that IS the point. It is that way on purpose. Migrating Forms is one of the most unique films you can possibly experience (i rarely use the word unique, but this is an exception). In a society where majority of the public like the same things and pay to see the most overrated films in the world, guys like James Fotopoulos are pushed to the side because he is doing something different and it is mind boggling. Especially seeing as we have the most powerful tool in front of us, the Internet!! I wish i could see his other films and shorts.. apparently he has done over 100. As for now only Migrating Forms, Zero, and Back Against the Wall are available to my knowledge.

COMPLETE GARBAGE,

This review is from: Migrating Forms (DVD)
I have to admit that I am a videophile and have a penchant for the offbeat horror flicks. I decided to take a chance on this one based on the raves of the cover art. BIG MISTAKE. This "film" is pure garbage. It's totally without merit and incomprehensible. The "acting" is atrocious and there is no apparent script. This is just a series of graphic sexual encounters between two vacant individuals. The woman has an obscenely hideous tumor on her back and the man eventually develops a tumor of his own. The comparison of this crap to the genious of Eraserhead is ludicrous. I wasted 30 bucks on this trash; don't make the same mistake.
