3.0 out of 5 stars Okay, but not as good as some of his other work.
This CD may be perfect for a slooow meditation, however I enjoy his other CD's more that have some life to them.

My husband and I have owned MIGRATION for 5 years, and we still relax to it, on close to a daily basis. What makes MIGRATION so special is the unique blend of traditional instruments like the piano, cello and flute combined with the Native American flute, and on some tracks, Native American vocals. What these talented muscians create is unlike anything that I have never heard before!

The piano provides a constant backbone which the Native American flute uses to work around. The two constant instruments, used on all tracks, are supported with an awesome backdrop of traditional instruments. A piercing and haunting cello, (the best example of this is #9, Quietude - my personal favorite track, and one that you can sample!). Or a backdrop of beautiful Native American vocals, (best performed in #12, Service), or the flute (check out #8, Transformation).

You will discover that this CD will provide you with a sense of calm and depth that will surprise you. If you are looking for music that is relaxing, spiritual, Native American, and beautiful look no further because you have just found it! MIGRATION provides an emotional woven texture that gives the listener the freedom to meditate and transport themselves elsewehre. It In fact, pick up two, and give one to a friend.

5.0 out of 5 stars For those in search of peaceful, healing music, February 19, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Migration (Audio CD)
I highly recommend this recording to anyone looking for peaceful, healing music. I am a professional massage therapist who has played this CD during massage sessions. It seems to produce a soothing effect on both the client and has enhanced my skills as well. These beneficial effects were noticed by another massage therapist receiving a massage at the time. I regret that it is no longer in stock and look forward to the time when it becomes available again.

5.0 out of 5 stars GREAT...BUT NOT WHAT I WAS EXPECTING, August 22, 2003
By A Customer

When one hears the term Native American Flute, one naturally thinks of pieces that would typically have a Native American flavor.

Not so with this Nakai collaboration with Peter Kater. R. Carlos Nakai has become, and deservedly so, the shaman of Native American flute but shows in Migration the breadth of ability that he possesses. Migration is a wonderful collection of tone poetry that will complement a variety of personal moods. A perfect backdrop for meditation and contemplation. Go for it!

Looking for a more classic Nakai effort? I highly recommend Inner Voices.

At night, I set the stereo on sleep with this CD. It helps me to get to sleep with it's beautiful, haunting sounds and easy segues between tracks. I highly recommend it for meditation purposes, as well.

I have also had this CD for a long while. It's timeless music.
I think this is the Best Album from Kater and Nakai.
It's very comtemplative. A lot better than a lot of the
New Age stuff out there
"Quietude" is my All Time Favorite track. But every song tells a story. Surrender and Service are also Great.

I have owned this CD for a couple of years, and never tire of hearing its soothing, calming, meditative sound. Every track has something different to say and can transport you if you let it. Very spiritual.

I wasn't even on the Amazon.com website tonight, but after listening to this CD for about the 500th time in the last 5 years (sometimes I play it all day long in my massage therapy room) I was moved to get on this site and rate this CD. This, as well as "Through Windows and Walls" are my all time favorite CD's. That says a lot as I have literally 1000's of CD's. Nothing can touch my soul and put me in a serene place like these two CD's. 9 out of 10 clients have asked me the name of these 2 CD's and have gone out and purchased them themselves. It's the musical version of what profound beauty looks like. I can't decide which of the two I like better. Buy both. You won't be sorry. Unless of course you're looking to rock out. Then forget it.

5.0 out of 5 stars hauntingly beautiful, October 20, 2003

I love the adagios, specially the piano pieces by Peter Kater. Hauntingly beautiful. I tend to listen to them at night. I call them soulful music. The ones with vocals are wonderful too. Uplifting. Inspiring even.

The feeling I got when I first listened to this CD was awesome. My Art teacher was playing it and it made me just feel as though I was in a happy familiar place. I particularly like the song "Stating Intention". Its erie mood easily takes me to a mood of meditation. It is a great CD!
