Book Description

Mika the Manx Cat is an illustrated children's book. Mika tells a tale of how the Manx Cat lost its tail -- a story of the water blue and Mika wishing to fish. Mika speaks in a prose format. So sit back and read, how about that?

Mika the Manx Cat is about perseverance. Readers aged 6-9 will enjoy it while younger children will like listening to it and looking at the illustrations. The pages are designed to be opened with a double click, which fills the screen and even allows you to zoom into the text or parts of the picture.

5.0 out of 5 stars Adorable book August 16, 2012
Format:Paperback|Verified Purchase
I bought this book as a gift for my sister, who is a 2nd grade teacher with a Masters in Whole Language. She thought this book was appropriate for all ages and she is going to use it for her 2nd grade class. She felt and believed the story would teach self confidence even when being bullied.

She felt as if this book is a good folk tale that is well illustrated and explains situations from a kids perspective. She thought the language was sophisticated enough, that it would allow the teacher to expand vocabulary for the students of all grades.

I will continue to give this book as a present to the teachers at my school and specifically the librarian.

5.0 out of 5 stars Wonder and Imagination July 8, 2013

I read this book to my young grandson. He enjoyed the book and loved the art work. We will read it over and over as he grows. The vocabulary is beyond "See the cat run!" so that as we or the children read they will learn to understand and articulate our language better.

Mr. Hart has put imagination and wonder back into Children's reading. Wonder and imagination are what make people want to read. Often times there is so little of it in the books that are published. How else would a Manx cat lose it's tail anyway. Mika I hope will be ready for more adventures very soon.

3.0 out of 5 stars Weird March 3, 2014

My kids thought it was a weird story. Would not display in full screen. Images looked good but still too small.

5.0 out of 5 stars Don't judge a book (or a cat) February 21, 2014

Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
This book teaches us to not base our opinion of someone (or something) solely on their looks. Just because something may be very beautiful on the outside does not necessarily mean that they are conceited or arrogant.

1.0 out of 5 stars Cute pictures but..... October 13, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
My daughter wanted this book so I got it for her. Well tonight we tried to read it but could not. The words are so small that there is no way of reading it unless we were to teach a mouse to read it for us. I tried working all the settings on my kindle but Nothing changed the sizing of the pictures to make it large enough to read. Big disappointment for us with the pictures looking so cute an all.

Once words are able to be seen to be read I will change my rating but till then there will be only 1 star

Mika the Manx Cat is a personal favorite for my Kiddos. It's a tale of curiosity, jealousy, perseverance and karma. Just ask any Manx cat you happen across they will tell you all about it.. Or get a copy and see for yourself! ;)
