This is a gorgeous "4-Piece Place Setting" exactly as the item's title says. It is not a 16-piece set. As such, some may think it's expensive, but they must be new to Mikasa and other fine brands. This is actually a good deal.

I recently bought two of these sets plus a few 'hostess' pieces for a young couple starting out. They already had a large service of casual, everyday dinnerware, but I wanted to give them something special, for those 'date night' candle-lit meals. They LOVE them. It was almost embarrassing how they went on and on about their favorite gift, as most people don't think of having any special dishes just for themselves. Four months on now and they report that they've used them at least once a week and have had no chips, cracks, or breaks.

I would definitely buy these again for others or for myself, and in fact may give them two more settings at the holidays.

Just received 5 place settings out of 8 ordered plus serving pieces. The remaining 3 place settings are coming from a different location and will arrive by February 7th. This is a gorgeous dining set. They look beautiful in my house. On a positive note, the place settings were very well wrapped with bubble rap in two cartons. Checked each piece for chips which there were none. I am extremely happy with this purchase. The only small problem is that place settings coming from different warehouses across the country and therefore different delivery dates

They are as nice as they look in the pics. Very tough durability. Great moder look for company or just for the every day dinner.

I saw this place setting on Amazon and I didn't like it. Then, I saw it in person and bought eight 4-pc place settings right there. It is replacing my beloved Mikasa Arabella which I've had for years. In person, the base color is so rich and the off-center, winding threads of color is so contemporary - It is an absolutely beautiful set. The pictures really don't do it justice. Other reviewers were under the impression $49.99 would buy service for four, I guess, but this is categorized as fine china. It is possible to buy multiple place settings that inexpensively, but this is not it. Because of the other reviewers ratings and comments, Amazon has stopped selling this until they investigate what "is wrong" with it. Nothing is wrong with it. Folks just need to read the description before they make the purchase. As for me, I couldn't be happier with these place settings.

For as expensive as these dishes were, there was a small chip in one of the plates. Package arrived quick!

Be warned, that this $50 "set" is really only one big plate, one small plate, a bowl, and a cup. I was expecting a set for four people, and this sadly is not it. The quality is awesome though.
