Product Description

Mikasa Gourmet Basics Chole 45-piece Service for 8-Set Includes 8 Each: Salad Forks, Dinner Forks, Dinner Spoons, teaspoonns, plus 1 Each Tablespoon, Pierced Tablespoon, Cold Meat Fork, Butter Serving Knife and Sugar Spoon. Stainless steel is completely dishwasher-safe and easy to maintain. Follow these few simple hints to ensure that your fine stainless steel flatware lasts for many years: Wash flatware prior to using for the first time. Avoid soaking stainless flatware in water for a prolonged period of time or overnight Before placing in washer, rinse food from flatware When loading your dishwasher, make sure knife blades do not come into contact with other utensils. This will prevent blades from nicking or scratching other pieces. Use a mild non-chloride detergent. Never pour detergent directly onto flatware. In hard water areas, use a water-softening agent to avoid spotting or pitting. Always remove stainless flatware from the dishwasher shortly after the drying cycle is complete. This decreases the amount of time your flatware is exposed to a very moist and hot environment and allows it to dry in cool drier air. Should detergent film build up on your flatware, wash (either by hand or in a dishwasher) and hand-dry to remove film. If stubborn stains or rust should occur, use a non-abrasive stainless or metal polish paste or cream. Avoid grainy cleaners. Limit exposure to water that has a high mineral content, high chloride dishwashing detergent and foods that contain chloride (table salt, mustard, mayonnaise and eggs) as pitting or spotting may occur.

My wife put this silverware set on our wedding registry, so it was purchased for us as a gift. We've have this for about 6 months now and are very happy with the quality. I was expecting it to be very bright and shiny, but it actually has a sort of deeper shine, kind of like my Tungsten wedding band. Overall, I would highly recommend this set; it is a very simple, yet classy set of silverware that is reasonably priced.

I originally purchased this set at TJ Maxx; I wish I had picked up two when I had the chance. Each piece is a good weight, and I haven't had any issues with difficult stains like a previous reviewer, even though I run my silverware through the dishwasher as well.

I read many reviews on this set of flatware by Mikasa (not on Amazon, elsewhere). The only bad review I read was that a fork was missing and it was promptly issued. Even people who had it for years had no complaints. So, super excited to finally be investing in some nice dinnerware I throw them in the dishwasher for the first recommended wash per the label. I bought 2 sets and just about every piece had some sort of spot (not water spots) that would not rub off. It wasn't rust either. I didn't have my dishwasher on the heat dry setting either because the label does not recommend it. Took some Bar Keepers Friend to it and it wipes right off. Why does this upset me!?! Because I should not have to hand polish each piece of flatware after each wash in the dishwasher for a product that is clearly labeled "dishwasher safe". Hand washing them is not something I will even consider....we have five children at home and we are busy enough as it is. I have purchased the cheap stuff (which is what we had prior to this purchase) that have never tarnished like this. Very bummed and super disappointed!
