I loved my Italian Countryside set when it arrived, the neutral color without being totally plain was exactly what I wanted, having gotten tired of blue stoneware that clashed dreadfully at the holidays. I unpacked them and washed them and got ready to put them away... and HELLO... the dinner plate won't fit in my older style 12" upper cabinet!! I was standing in the kitchen ready to cry because I thought I was going to have to send them back until my handy husband was able to rout out the back of the cabinet door enough to let them fit. The plates stick out just far enough that the door wasn't closing, so measure your cupboards before ordering. Other than that I like the set very much. A few small flaws in the glaze on the back of the dinner and salad plates but none on the upper surface. I also love having so many other pieces available in the pattern. I am also quite happy that my very hard on the dinnerware husband has not broken or chipped a single dish yet. That is testament to the dishes not to his being more careful!

I love the dishes and posted a positive review on the 45-piece set. With this particular item I ordered two sets. The sets were shipped separately and oddly the top salad plate in EACH BOX was broken. Seems like Mikasa needs to re-think the packing for this configuration. (Amazon's outside packaging was good with those air-bubble spacers in the box.)

I will add one comment about the size of these dishes. Both the plates and the cereal bowls are OVERSIZED. I was really surprised at the size of the cereal/salad bowls.

I received my dishes earlier than expected. I excitedly opened the box to find 5 of the dishes were completey smashed. I see by other reviews that this has happened before. Although Customer Service was very polite and I will be sent a replacement, it was very inconvenient and now will take longer to get them. I do plan on adding to this set, but will think twice about ordering it from here. Amazon, you might want to rethink your packaging. Just a suggestion.

I chose Mikasa's Italian Countryside 6 years ago when I got married. I have been using it continuously this entire time and have only chipped 2 pieces (small chips). The nice part is that this dinnerware can really take a beating. It goes with everything and is nice enough to use for formal dinners as well as everyday stuff. My sister liked my pattern so much she ordered it for her upcoming wedding too!

We are very pleased with our purchase, we were able to get them much cheeper through amazon than anywhere else. It pays to shop around! as some items that amazon had were more or the same as in the department stoeres.

These dishes are beautiful, durable, and a great value for the price. I was looking for dishes that were glazed on the bottom rim, to prevent food and water absorption and to protect the finish on my granite countertops and my dining table, and these are. Their off-white glaze makes it easy to change serving dishes, napkins, etc. for different holidays and seasons. The bowls and mugs are nice sizes, and I like the diameters of the dinner and salad plates as well. These dishes are classic and classy-looking, and they can be used in the microwave and washed in the dishwasher--PERFECT!

I love these dishes! I've been wanting this pattern for about 20 years. But each time I've shopped for them the place settings always had a cup and saucer, as well as the shallow "rim" soup bowl. I prefer to use mugs, so cups and saucers are a waste. And I love the "coupe" bowl that is available in this pattern. So when I found this set consisting of the four 4-piece place settings at such a great price I knew I had to get them. I bought two sets (service for 8). I love the mugs; they are pretty and a perfect size. And the coupe-style cereal bowls are exactly what I wanted! Unlike some other reviewers, I had no breakage in either set. The boxes were VERY WELL PACKED. The blue Mikasa box was placed inside a sturdy shipping carton, and that was nested into yet another larger box with lots of cushioning around it. And Amazon shipped the order VERY QUICKLY - arrived just 3 days after placing my order. All that and FREE SUPER-SAVER SHIPPING too! What a great deal. I am very happy with my Italian Countryside dishes.

I purchased 3 sets of the 16 piece Mikasa Italian Countryside Dinnerware approx one month ago. These are beautiful dishes and I'm very pleased with them. The sets came packaged very well. There was only 1 bowl that was cracked. When I contacted Amazon Customer Service, I asked them to replace the broken bowl but they wanted me to return one full 16 piece set. I didn't see a good reason to send back 16 pieces for one bowl. They finally agreed to credit my account the cost of the bowl which was fine with me. The Italian Countryside can be purchased as individual pieces so I was able to replace the bowl very easily.

These dishes really do make a beautiful table! I love them! The dinner plates are large. My husband likes the larger cereal bowl but I prefer to use one of the fruit bowls for my cereal. I did chip one of my dinner plates on my granite countertop because I wasn't being very careful.

I bought these last minute, mostly because of the reviews and was afraid I might not like them, but I ended up liking them very much. This is a casual but versatile set. The dishes were packed well, a box within another box, within another box, plenty of cardboard between each dish. I expected to find a few flaws or chips or bumps in the glaze, but I found none. Colour is not as white as the picture shows, more of a stock card manilla cream colour - and they feel good to touch, smooth,glossy,and light weight for stoneware. I am glad I made the purchase, they are nice to have. The size of the bowls are large, and work for pasta, salads, cereal, soup, even vegetable servings. The dinner plates are 11 1/4" in diameter, fairly normal sized dinner plate, had no issue fitting in my cupboard.
