5.0 out of 5 stars One of the best fishing books I've ever read.
Let me tell you folks, I've read a lot of fishing books in my time, and I've been fishing all my life. Mike Gardner and the Galt publishing group have hit a home run with this one. It's so full of valuable information on technique, tackle, lures, and where to find trophy fish in bays and estuaries. Mr. Gardner explains in detail all of the above in an easy to read, off...

Infomation best for beginners. Authour is very impressed with himself, as he repeatedly reminds reader how good an angler he is. Pictures rather bland and in b/w. Some good basic information but not for the price. Seek out the library copy or a used version. Buy a good lure with the money you save.

Mr. Gardner explains in detail all of the above in an easy to read, off the cuff style. It's simply a great book. What's also great is that all of the contact info. on the tackle companies mentioned in the book, and even Mr. Gardner himself is in the back of the book. Don't hesitate to give Mike a call, and set up a guide trip with him...He'll demonstrate all the techniques in the book, and will definitely get you into some fish....

4.0 out of 5 stars How to do the bay right, February 24, 2000

Mike's book is very thorough--perfect for novices with little prior knowledge. Good for more accomplished anglers, too. I've fished Newport bay a lot and found numerous tips and pieces of advice to help me be even more productive there. Even after several readings, I continued to find new bits of important info about targeting bay bass. There are still a few questions I have but I'm sure I'll get those answered in person at Fred Hall or if I book a trip with him. I did find a few sections a little long on subjects that I feel didn't need that much attention. Overall, a very comprehesive, easy read.

4.0 out of 5 stars Mike Gardner Fish Have No Hands, May 16, 2009

For Southern California Bay fishing, the book is a wealth of information. I found his instruction easy to follow. Even better is to buy his DVD so you can see and read in detail his instructions. One major problem is that the book is dated so his opinions on fishing gear, line, bait, etc. are all out of date, but the concept he provides works even better with our newer tackle. I recommend the book and the DVD.

5.0 out of 5 stars You need to read, April 7, 1999

I once met Mike at a local fishing show, and believe me, he's not lying when he says he can catch 200-300 fish in one day with the technique listed in this book.
