This is the 1990s Mike Hammer Private Eye series which takes place in Los Angeles and has Shannon Whirry as Velda. It's a good series but is not the gritty, womanizing and violent Mike Hammer that we came to know and love from the 1980s "Mickey Spillane's Mike Hammer" and "The New Mike Hammer"; neither of which to my knowledge has currently has seen the light of day in a DVD boxed set (although several of the tv movies from the same decade are available).

I vaguely remembered watching some of these shows as a kid. I enjoy watching TV with my 12 year old son in the evenings, however everything tends to be very violent or have very sexual themes. I bought this series hoping it would have enough intrigue to catch his interest but not too much senseless violence or intense adult themes. I was also hoping to avoid some of the explicit sexual scenes and inuendo today's modern prime time television has.
Mike Hammer, Private Eye - The Complete Series

The series is fun and has caught my son's attention. There is slightly more violence than I would like, and the main character loves to be considered a ladie's man. I would rate this series a PG-13 by todays standards.

Take this series for what it is. Mike Hammer is an old school "throwback" detective. The acting and the stories are obviously from the early 90's. If you like these old prime time detective shows, you can not go wrong for the price!

It is cheap entertainment and is something my 12 year old son and I enjoy watching together.

This was an excellent value! The DVD's were in great color and excellent detail. (Unusual for an inexpensive product!)

If you like Mike Hammer, I highly recommend this product.

The product arrived on time and in new condition. We enjoyed watching this series on TV in the 80's and are really happy to have this set. The stories are interesting because they are in narrative style and are not at the violent level of alot of TV series today.

This boxed set contains all 26 episodes of the 1997 "Mike Hammer - Private Eye" series. Stacy Keach is excellent as Mike Hammer and I like the added cast members Shane Conrad as Nick and Shannon Whirry is VERY easy to watch. There is abundant eye-candy with pretty and shapely young women in every episode. Also "the Face" the elusive attractive "face in the crowd" played by Rebbeca Chaney (the grand-niece of Actor legend Lon Chaney). Then there is Kent Williams as the ADA you love to hate. These are nicely packaged on four DVDs in separate cases. Highly recommended!!

KEACH WILL ALWAYS BE THE MIKE HAMMER KNOWN TO TELEVISION. THIS LATER VERSION EXCLUDES DON STROUD FROM THE CAST AND HAS A DIFFERENT MYSTERY WOMAN AND VELMA. STACY PLATS HIM AS HE ALLWAYS HAS WITH WIT AND ALWAYS SEEMS TO GET TO PORK THE GIRLS. NICE SET. HAIL RHODESIA, DEATH TO MUGABE AND SHIBAZZ- THAT PIG PORKING PIECE OF MUHAMMEDAN CRAP.

This brought back memmories. Although I like the original with Darrin McGavin, I truly enjoyed this series with Stacey Keach. It is campy and fun. I love his acting, he is the bomb. Veld is great, too. It was a great discounted price, too. I would recommend this if you are like me and watched this show in the 70's. I loved it!

This show brought back good memories of watching TV with the family. Mike Hammer is a character that tries to do what is right, although doing so gets him into trouble. He does what a lot of people might want to do but are afraid to do, that is to help others. This was a good show. It is a show that you can watch more than once. Picture quality was pretty good although not as good as some other shows on DVD of the same time frame.

Stacy Keach plays Mike Hammer very well he has the look and the voice for it. The stories are always a lot of fun with his snappy dialog. Having it be a show from the 90's you still get plenty of gun play and sexy ladies finding some reason to show some skin. I know it is a little thing but at times it is refreshing to see a character smoke on a TV program it adds so much element to the whole Noir atmosphere.

There are plenty cheesy moments during the show too having the time it was made and the budget, but it's always nice to see New York as a backdrop in it's full glory with the Twin Towers shining in the background.

The video is standard and the audio a bit quiet but crisp and a nice soundtrack with enough bass to make it rumble. I do wish it had closed caption but thats minor.

It was entertaining and kept us in suspense. We enjoyed watching Mike Hammer series on TV years ago and watching this DVD lived up to our expectations. Only at the end did we find out who the culprits really were. We highly recommend this movie to mystery buffs.
