BUY THIS BOOK. You'll never regret it, and you'll read it to tatters. Turn your household garbage into beautiful rich loam. Mr. McGrath tells you what you need to know, in simple but funny language, about composting. This is an excellent gift book, written by someone who knows how to make plain old information fascinating and funny. Although we've never met, I sense a kindred soul who understands how to save the planet by intelligently recycling garbage to create a home for flowers and vegetables.

Composting is an art. This book will tell you how to learn it.

I purchased two books on composting for our gardeners' library. This was a simple and fun basic composting guide, and with the other book purchased from Amazon: The Complete Compost Gardening Guide, the library now has a great compost resource from basic to expert tips and how-tos.

This little book is packed full of useful info, everything you need to get started or improve your composting system. Highly recommended. Easy to read (love the author's conversational style), and easy to understand his logic. Great reference!

I will have to say that this book was first bought so I could get the free shippng but turned out to be so much more. I am new to the world of composting first just doing things the way tat sounded good and what people told me but the things tat i was told was opposite to what the book said so I switch it up. With doing most things that the book said my pile has never been hotter and breaking down so quick. Like he said in the book you need leaves and I ran out. So read the book and things will change for the best with money in the dirt

As a devout listener to Mike McGrath on NPR, I found this book an essential must-have for any home gardening enthusiast. It is an easy read and gets right to the heart of the who, what, when, where, why and how of composting. Mike's light-hearted style makes learning very entertaining, and is technical enough to keep on-hand as a reference book for years to come. My compost has definitely benefited!

Very fun book about everything you ever wanted to know about compost but were afraid to ask. Mike McGrath does it again.

Has the needed info in it, but could have been 60 pages instead of 120 pages. I just wanted the facts and a library to go to. The author sounds like a 60s guy trying to make jokes. Seems like every other sentence then has parenthesis with some joke or wise crack. For me it got old. If you like that kind of thing, then you will like the book. Like i said, i would have rather had 60 pages of facts that i could find again.

McGrath tells us how easy composting is. He scales it down to where your not affraid to try it.
