5.0 out of 5 stars Courtesy of Teens Read Too, August 13, 2008
This review is from: Miki Falls: Autumn (Paperback)
At the beginning of MIKI FALLS: AUTUMN, the third installment of the MIKI FALLS series, Miki and Hiro are together but they have to hide their relationship from Hiro's superiors. Hiro is a Deliverer, a guide of love, and being with Miki is against the rules.

Hiro has returned from a meeting of the Deliverer Elders, where he has been warned by a sympathetic Elder to be careful about Miki. Although it doesn't appear they know about their relationship, they are being watched.

When Reika appears and claims that Hiro is not doing what is right and threatens to turn the pair in, Miki and Hiro know trouble will soon follow. Hiro doesn't want to be without Miki, but by being with her he's going against everything the Deliverers believe. So Miki proposes an idea -- they should run away.

The relationship between Miki and Hiro grows stronger in this volume and the art, as always, is fantastic. The reader is pulled into the drawings and you feel as though you are in Japan with Miki and Hiro. This volume also adds more suspense to the story.

Each volume in this series has a great story, and after finishing you'll want to pick up MIKI FALLS: WINTER to see how it all ends. Highly recommended for fans of manga and romance.

5.0 out of 5 stars Will Reika keep Hiro and Miki apart?, June 5, 2008
This review is from: Miki Falls: Autumn (Paperback)
From the moment Miki drops the leaf to find her fortune and it sinks, you get the feeling that this is going to be a very exciting book with lots of adventures for Miki and Hiro. (If you haven't read the 1st two books Miki Falls Spring, Miki Falls Summer, you need to read them to really appreciate all that is going on!)

I had already guessed that Reika would cause Miki trouble -- and sure enough -- but that is only the beginning. The rest of the book keeps you guessing all the way.

Once again the art work adds to the excitement, and you definitely feel like you are in Japan!

This is a series you want never to end, and also to read over and over again.

5.0 out of 5 stars Beautiful Artwork ~ Great Storytelling ~ and CLEAN!!, April 2, 2009
This review is from: Miki Falls: Autumn (Paperback)
I won't go into the storyline (except to say that Mark Crilley is every bit as good of a storyteller as he is an excellent Manga artist!) Once you've read Miki Falls - SPRING, you'll be hooked and want the other 3 immediately so you might as well get all 4 now.

:-)

OKAY ~~ Now a Review from the VIEWPOINT of a PARENT:

I bought the "Miki Falls" series for my daughter after watching several of Mark Crilley's "How to draw Manga" videos that he is kind enough to create for his many fans on YouTube.

Let me just say that the "Miki Falls" series is both CLEAN and Very Entertaining.

...The storyline is deep, thoughtful and touching

...The artwork is great quality & often breathtaking

...The series is packed with adventure, mystery, suspense, action, and True Love

For those who don't know, Mark Crilley has a huge (teen / young adult) following on YouTube by kids who are simply interested in improving their art skills (and those who want to learn the necessary skills to be a "published" artist someday). In today's "anything goes" culture, it's really refreshing to find an author (and artist) like Mark who goes that extra mile to assure that teens and young adults are viewing / reading principled and respectable artwork and stories.

In short, I admire Mark for many things, but mostly because I can TRUST his artwork and "how to draw" videos with my own child.

Keep up the Great work Mark Crilley!!

~~ I truly hope that more Miki books are somewhere on the horizon!!

5.0 out of 5 stars The Plot Thickens, September 17, 2011
This review is from: Miki Falls: Autumn (Paperback)
Miki Falls: Autumn introduces some heart pounding twists and turns as Miki faces lifechanging decisions.

The artwork is amazing. Not many manga artists put so much shading and detail in their work.

5.0 out of 5 stars Unique!, January 30, 2010

I love this series. Mark Crilley is very inspiring. His [...] videos are excellent as well and that is what made me want to buy them. I have to admit, this is a very different type of manga and style, however, if you give it a chance, you'll realize how terrific this art and story is!I love how you can see the brush strokes and pencil work, it looks like real art. It's refreshing to see the original style instead of ink and computers (not that there is anything wrong with them).
