CONFUSING - INCOMPLETE - POORLY LAID OUT,
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Milady's Guide to Lymph Drainage Massage (Paperback)
After purchasing and reviewing several books, I have found this one to be the poorest. I train estheticians in LDM, and cannot use this book for my text. Flipping back and forth through the book, I had a hard time finding the information I needed in one place for a specific topic, such as the major nodal groups and their names - I gave up - no diagram, missing nodal groups. On page 11 (diagram)- some nodal groups are noted, but many are missing - aren't there lymph nodes in the legs? and in the arms?? Many people with lymphedema (or just edema) have swelling in the legs, feet, or ankles, and in the arms... How will this help them? The instructions for "massage" are easy to understand with great pictures for each step, but much of the instruction leads one to use their own personal definition of massage rather than skin stretching.
A good picture book, but not a good reference or study book. But - I will say it is a good step-by-step instruction for anyone with a family member that needs LDM - with caution: follow the instructions carefully, step by step. Personally, I like the "Foundations of Manual Lymph Drainage" - by Michael Foldi and Roman Strossenreuther much better. A little scientific for the novice, but has much more information for better understanding, and the chapters are more complete, which saves much time flipping back and forth searching in the Milady's book. Also, the DVD by Sean Riehl is very educational.

Great Book,

I purchased this book to help with my husbands lymph drainage problem. His sister is a Physical Therapist and has looked over the book and says it is a great book. I also like it for the pictures that it includes and the "self Help" section so that he can do the exercises without always having to have me to do them. Thanks for such a great book.

The Complete Guide to Lymph Drainage Massage,
This review is from: The Complete Guide to Lymph Drainage Massage (Paperback)
We thought Ramona had written the definitive book on Lymph Drainage Massage until we read the revised, most current edition. Dedicated to her mentor, Judy Dean, whom many will remember fondly, this version augments and adds more information to the original. Ramona is one of the acknowledged experts in this particular modality. That she is an excellent writer as well makes this book a must have for anyone interested in Lymph Drainage. Written for massage therapists and healthcare professionals, it contains technical jargon necessary for practical understanding and application. However, replete with pictorials and step by step instruction, even the merely curious minded, health conscious amateur will find this version informative and easy to follow. Suffice it to say, all healthcare professionals will want to have a copy of The Complete Guide to Lymph Drainage Massage (Second Edition) as part of their reference library. This includes holistic health practitioners, especially those that seek to mitigate the suffering of people battling cancer. We gave this edition our own rating of two thumbs up. This review is from: Milady's Guide to Lymph Drainage Massage (Paperback)
I REALLY LIKED THIS BOOK. IT IS VERY INFORMATIVE, AND THE DIRECTIONS ARE VERY CLEAR AND EASY TO UNDERSTAND. I WOULD RECOMEND THIS BOOK TO ANYONE WHO WANTS TO LEARN MORE ABOUT THE LYMPHATIC SYSTEM AND HOW TO USE MANUAL TECHNIQUES TO DRAIN THEM.

A "Must Have" for anyone interested in the Lymphatic System or MLD!,
This review is from: The Complete Guide to Lymph Drainage Massage (Paperback)
Ramona has broken down the Lymphatic System, Immune Function and Lymph Drainage Massage (MLD) in this comprehensive, and easy to use guide. I especially appreciate Ramona's insight, experience and understanding of The Energetic and Mind-Body effects of MLD. This is a "must have" guide for anyone interested in MLD! For the last 19 years I have been a practicing massage therapist with a large MLD clientele and I find Ramona's books to be a valuable resource!!!

This book was included in a Lymphatic drainage massage, continuing education program I took. I am a massage therapist by the way. The book is written in laymans terms and easy to understand. Thorough as to contraindications and indications for lymphatic massage, which is different from manual lymphatic drainage. This book was not intended to address the severity of lymphadema.
A comination of the book and the video by Sean Riehl would be the best purchase. Although there is no substitute for hands on training when it comes to lymphatic massage/drainage. I would recommend this book to people that already have an understanding of lymph massage and minimal hands on experience.

I found this book very american. It skimmed the theory and dangerously avoided dangers of treating non healthy clients.I found the instructions confusing and unhelpful. I would not recommend this book.
