Mild Violence is not so violent,
By
This review is from: Mild Violence (Audio CD)
I must wax ecstatic about this music. It is, simply put, the best post-modern music that I have heard in many years. Steven Ricks has a truly original voice.
Track 2, Mild Violence, is a vehicle for some very pointillistic music that is totally in tune with our times, yet not abrasive. Tracks 1 and 5, Boundless Light, and Beyond the Zero, communicate a sort of cosmic beauty, while Track 3, American Dreamscape, converses with Charlie Parker in the most intimate and well-understood manner. Ricks seems to be in tune with a grander scheme of things than many of us do, and to have an actual vision of the other side. Charles Madden
