More than just pilots and stewardesses,
By
This review is from: The Mile High Club: Plane Sex Stories (Paperback)
With a name like "The Mile High Club," should I expect notes on a song by Bow Wow Wow or a Liz Phair video? Knowing it's an anthology of erotic short stories, I have a few ideas: sexy stewardesses in skintight skirts, proud pilots with prodigious... pants. Of course, I could be wrong.
The anthology edited by Rachel Kramer Bussel is more than pilots and stewardesses, although they do feature in a few stories. Most of the stories involve passengers. Lavatory trysts, alluded to on the cover of the book, are pretty common, though the authors get pretty inventive. Another common method for sex in the sky involves passengers seated next to each other while covered by a common blanket. However, these illicit affairs are unneeded in a couple of stories, such as "Flights of Fancy", which features an airline devoted to sex, and "Get On, Get Off" which introduces the idea of Masturbation Class. Getting away from the airlines, we are presented with "Bermuda Triangle" which features a female flight instructor and two male students who do everything she says. "Wing Walker" takes the idea of sex in flight to a new level, when a couple engages in activities on the top wing of a biplane. One story, "Planes, Trains, and Banana Seat Bicycles," doesn't involve sex in the skies. While it is a great story, it seems a bit out of place in this book. All of the stories are good or great. Although they only averaged about 10 - 12 pages each, these nineteen sexy short stories only scratched the surface of the Mile High Club concept. I hope to see follow-up anthologies, because I think there is a lot of uncharted territory in this area. Maybe in the future we can read stories with helicopters. Flying boats. Dirigibles!

a little something for everyone,

Whatever your need, there's certainly a story to fulfill it in the latest collection of erotic stories edited by Rachel Kramer Bussel. Not only are these stories tantalizing to read, they're well written as well! Too often in the world of erotica, you find yourself reading poorly written smut.
From the deliciously naughty 34B by Bill Kte'Pi to the well written Planes, Trains, and Banana-Seat Bicycles by Alison Tyler, I found a few stories that pulled me in, set a scene and gave me great characters to connect with. Thomas S. Roche's When Your Girlfriend Wears a Very Short Skirt should not be missed, either. If you're looking for a solid collection of erotica stories, look to those edited by Rachel Kramer Bussel. The Mile High Club: Plane Sex Stories does not disappoint.

I have to agree with everyone else on the 5 star reviews. What I liked most is that not all of the stories end the same. Some leave you wondering what happened after or wanting to create your own ending. Two of my favorites were Nasty Little Habit (about a serial pleasurer who obviously still can't break her habit) and Bermuda Triangle (about a female flight instructor using two male students for her entertainment). The stories were well written and gave the reader a little bit of everything. Other good reads are Wild Child and Obedient written for the dominating party. All and all very capitvating read.

a great collection of hot short-stories...,
This review is from: The Mile High Club: Plane Sex Stories (Paperback)
All I'll say is, if you've ever even thought about joining the "mile high club", this book is absolutely a must-read. The book contains nearly 20 terrific & well-written short-stories... but (in my opinion, at least) it'd be worth buying for the fantastic stories by Rachel Kramer Bussell ["Urgent Message"], Donna George Storey ["Nasty Little Habit"], and Teresa Noelle Roberts ["Obedient"] alone. IF this book had been made up of just those three stories, it'd still be worth every penny! But like I said, there are many, many other interesting stories included... so quit reading this and get yourself a copy!

A Most Delightful Read,
By
This review is from: The Mile High Club: Plane Sex Stories (Paperback)
Just the number of creative ways that the authors collected by Rachel Kramer Bussel in *The Mile High Club* find for their characters to get off while in the air makes reading the book a fun adventure.
Except for one delicious fantasy, all of the stories are realistic enough to get readers thinking about a plan for their own initiation into the club. Someone who could never figure out how to get tab A into slot B within the crowded confines of the cattle cars that pass for planes these days, will be inspired by the myriad opportunities described. The stories range from encounters with never-to-be-seen-again strangers to romantic beginnings that have the potential for long-term couplings as well as already existing relationships enhanced by the experience. There's something for everyone with male/female, female/female, and male/male encounters. And thanks to technology, a couple of steamy stories have only one of the participants on the plane. Hot sex aside, the stories are all well-written with strong character development. As someone who needs more than just good sex to make a story enjoyable, I found this a most delightful read. I.G. very hot. very, very hot. Short stories you can devour slowly or lap up all at once. This collection keeps you going and going. The myriad of authors all create stories which peak your interest among other things. There's bound to be one that describes your very own mile-high fantasy. Imagine the attention you'd get if you took it with you to read on a plane!

This book "The Mile High Club" is definately a hot and sexy read. Its intriguing and hard to put down. I've never been on an air plane but if I ever do, now I want to join the mile high club. I love the different unique stories and the different ways "The Mile High Club" can be joined. Puts a new twist and spin on the way you look at things like a simple flight. This was a great read, something Id recommend.

5,280 feet of pure sex...,

So yeah I'm on an erotic short story reading frenzy and its books like this that keep feeding the fire. Rachel has got me so sprung one her collections that I was one hour away from buying this book even though she said she had one in the mail for me. I DID NOT want to wait for this book! Thankfully it came the very next day and I devoured it like AIG did our tax money. The stories were carnal, erotic, lusty, hot blooded, and passionate.
I love collections of short stories because you can fit them in anytime of the day (or night) and they are perfect for a pick-me-up. All of these stories involve sex in, around, and even OUTSIDE an airplane so be prepared for that one theme throughout this collection. My favorites are: `Instrument Flight Rules' `The Scream Queen' `Bermuda Triangle' `Aisle Seat' `Game in the Sky' `Flights of Fancy' `Bert and Betty' I tell myself that every time I get one of these books I'm not going to read it straight through like a novel but I can't help myself. Short stories are like your very own voyeurism without the fear of getting caught. Once you start reading about someone else's fantasy or sexual exploits it's almost impossible to stop. I'm glad I'm not a speed reader or I would have finished this book in only a few hours. As it was it only took me about a day or two. Rachel, yet again, picks the right stories and the right authors to create one heck of a sexy collection.

Funny Sex and Sexy Fun,
By
This review is from: The Mile High Club: Plane Sex Stories (Paperback)
Who doesn't love delightful surprises? This story collection is chock full, presented with style and humor. A good girl's fear of getting exactly what she wants. A worldly woman's unerring intuition. Strangers on a plane flirting with infidelity, and then some. Masturbation-class seating with a generous helping of imagination gives two passengers their money-shot's worth. And so on. Whew.
There are some truly inventive flights of fancy (okay, bad pun) within these pages. Think you've heard it all? How about midair sex ... out on the wing? I was a bit skeptical of an erotic anthology with such a narrow focus. However, this one fully lives up to the promise of its audacious cover photo. Spicy as the taste of a stranger's lips. It kept me engaged to the very last page. --Bill Brent [29 March 2009]

Sexy and Arousing,
This review is from: The Mile High Club: Plane Sex Stories (Paperback)
The Mile High Club, edited by Rachel Kramer Bussel, is 187 pages and includes 19 different stories. All of the stories are focused around airplane sex. However, while you'd assume that all of the stories happen in the airplane bathroom, that's actually not the case in this book. In fact, only a couple of the stories take place in the bathroom. For the most part, the stories themselves take place in the actual cabin of the airplane - usually under a blanket. In some of the stories, the other partner isn't even on the plane itself but is instead talking to them through instant messenger or gave them strict orders before flight as to what to do.
I really enjoyed quite a few of the stories in this collection, but a couple were boring and unarousing. I found I also had a bit of trouble believing that some of these plots could actually happen in a regular world which tended to make it less arousing. Heterosexual sex is the main type in this book with very little homosexuality appearing (and it only appears in stories where the main couple is heterosexual.) However, I did actually end up enjoying the Mile High Club quite a bit, so if you have an airplane flight coming up, I recommend you check it out. |
