3.0 out of 5 stars "Miles Away" Remix Reviews
The remixes of 'Miles Away' are all very club-orientated. My only hang-up over this single release is that when stacked against one another, the remixes sound so similar that it's really difficult for one to stand out as great or superior to the others. 3.0 out of 5 stars "Miles Away" Remix Reviews, December 16, 2008

The remixes of 'Miles Away' are all very club-orientated. My only hang-up over this single release is that when stacked against one another, the remixes sound so similar that it's really difficult for one to stand out as great or superior to the others. The Thin White Duke remix stands out because it took the most liberties with the chorus, removing most of the response parts to leave the listener with Madonna's claims such as "You always love me more ... I hear it in your voice ..." This remix was rather trance/dreamy like and, for me, really remixed the song without removing all the spirit of the original. The Morgan Page remix is very similar to the original with a few tweaks to make it more upbeat and club-ready. The Johnny Vicious remixes maintain the guitar strumming while upping the beats to, again, make the song more fitting for a dance floor. The line 'So far away ...' is highlighted to make the mix rather exciting.

The mixes that didn't do as much for me were the Rebirth and Aaron LaCarte mixes. The Rebirth mix simply sounds too similar to the original and the Morgan Page remix to stand out on its own. The Aaron LaCarte mix is, in my opinion, the weakest of the bunch. It's by far the most experimental and just doesn't work with its attempt to make the song more old school hip-hop with 'hey! hey!' droning annoyingly in the background along with a drum beat. The mix sounds cluttered and far too long with not much movement, completely taking the essence of the song away and leaving something rather boring and messy in its place.

In all, this remix single release was just okay. Not enough chances were taken with the song or the vocals in the mixes, and with all the tracks sounding as if they were mixed in hopes of landing them in the clubs, we get little variety or originality in the end product and a single with seven very similar sounding tracks. Great original song (the radio edit is included in this release) with good mixes, but nothing too great.

just an FYI, this is the USA edition of the maxi-single, not a Euro import as stated in the product details. The remixes themselves are great.

5.0 out of 5 stars The Soundtrack of My Life, February 1, 2009
This review is from: Miles Away (Remix Ep) (Audio CD)
I was recently dumped by a boyfriend. Madonna's songs never fail to provide an appropriate soundtrack to my life. This song is somehow empowering for me in my current situation. Their is always a "I will survive and thrive," message in her music. Thanks as always, Madonna.

5.0 out of 5 stars "Uncomfortable silence can be so loud...", January 10, 2009
This review is from: Miles Away (Remix Ep) (Audio CD)
Miles Away by Madonna contains some great remixes, my fave from this EP is the Thin White Duke Remix, aka Stuart Price who produced her Confessions on A Dance floor album. I like the other remixes as well, my second fave is the Rebirth remix. I love this song which can be found on her Hard Candy album. This song is so emotional but has a killer beat. I highly recommend this sugary sweet purchase. Enjoy!

This was by far one of Madonna's best underrated singles and the remixes are definitley worth owning for any fan! There are several to choose from, and like most remixes, some are better than others but overall I think it's well worth having. Buy it and enjoy!!

It has been a long time since madge's likeness appeared on any cover album or 12 inchers, but as always, not a single remix that's not worth shaking one's little tush to. the "Thin White Duke" remix stands out on this one.

Of course, this one's better on vinyl :)

After 25 years in the music business, Madonna proves, yet again, that she can churn out the hits remixed and dance floor ready.

3.0 out of 5 stars Great song, but not the best remixes from the Hard Candy Era, January 28, 2009
This review is from: Miles Away (Remix Ep) (Audio CD)
This songs is one of the finest of Madonna's Hard Candy album. She's always written some extraordinary folkish-electronic based ballads like this one - "Nothing Fails", "Love Profusion" and "I Deserve It" come to mind right now and are all certainly very similar to this song in style (strong acoustic guitars with a touch of dance-beats). Unfortunately, the remixes on this Maxi-Single don't showcase the potential of this track... But then if we think about it, all the promotion of surrounding "Miles Away" was bad all around... I was especially expecting more from Stuart Price's remix, but it failed to impress me.

I gave this album 3 stars for the lack of strength and impression it left on me... But is rather enjoyable for hardcore techno/electronica fans... I'm kind of a purist and prefer "Miles Away" as it is... Or give me a great remix, but none of these are impressive IMO. Buy the entire Hard Candy album instead or if you wanna find great remixes from this Madonna era, buy the "Give It 2 Me" Maxi-Single! Oakenfold's and Eddie Amador's input in that song are incredible!
