Even better than expected, surprised the hype isn't at critical mass yet,

I bought this album on a whim after having it recommended to me by a friend. I listened to some MP3s, samples, and thought it sounded pretty damn good. Nothing prepared me for how awesome this album is though.
I really hate writing about music, but I have to throw down another five star review to do my part in getting the word out. For starters (and I don't mean this to describe the whole album...that would sell it short), think Neil Young meets Arcade Fire. Earnest lyrics that tell a story, fuzzed out guitars, booming drums, surprisingly huge sound for what appeared to me as singer/songwriter affair. It has its personal, quiet moments, it has its climactic parts where the sound completely takes you over. It's all perfectly balanced and there ain't a track I don't like on the album. buy it without thinking twice.

I heard "Buriedfed" by Miles Benjamin Anthony Robinson on Pitchfork's forkcast and instantly became excited about the new album. I spotted it at the record store about a month before I thought it was supposed to be released and immediately snatched it up. After giving it a few listens, I learned that almost all of the tracks on the album are just as good if not better than the opening track that I have come to love. He sort of reminds me of artists like Frog Eyes and Wolf Parade, and Kyp Malone of TVOTR and Daniel Rossen of Grizzly Bear are guest artists on the debut album. MBAR will probably be one of the next big names in the freak folk movement, and he really deserves it. Get this album!
