I bought this album on a whim after having it recommended to me by a friend. I listened to some MP3s, samples, and thought it sounded pretty damn good. Nothing prepared me for how awesome this album is though.

I really hate writing about music, but I have to throw down another five star review to do my part in getting the word out. For starters (and I don't mean this to describe the whole album...that would sell it short), think Neil Young meets Arcade Fire. Earnest lyrics that tell a story, fuzzed out guitars, booming drums, surprisingly huge sound for what appeared to me as singer/songwriter affair. It has its personal, quiet moments, it has its climactic parts where the sound completely takes you over. It's all perfectly balanced and there ain't a track I don't like on the album.

buy it without thinking twice.

5.0 out of 5 stars If you like TV on the Radio or Frog Eyes..., June 23, 2008

I heard "Buriedfed" by Miles Benjamin Anthony Robinson on Pitchfork's forkcast and instantly became excited about the new album. I spotted it at the record store about a month before I thought it was supposed to be released and immediately snatched it up.

After giving it a few listens, I learned that almost all of the tracks on the album are just as good if not better than the opening track that I have come to love. He sort of reminds me of artists like Frog Eyes and Wolf Parade, and Kyp Malone of TVOTR and Daniel Rossen of Grizzly Bear are guest artists on the debut album. MBAR will probably be one of the next big names in the freak folk movement, and he really deserves it. Get this album!

5.0 out of 5 stars A second listen is worth more than the first., December 8, 2008
This review is from: Miles Benjamin Anthony Robinson (Audio CD)
I bought the album mid summer this year based on a review i read in The Week weekly. I was blown away by the first three songs on the album. Very impressed , even bought two more copies as gifts for my sister and best friend. I listened over the last 7 tracks and didn't really get into them that much.
Alas some time has gone by and i was driving around and i popped the cd in the car radio, set it on random and just listened. I found that the rest of the album is better, much better than the opening tracks. I think the first three tracks are the catch for the general public the fluff.

Not that they are bad by any means, but my god the tracks 4- 10 are something. Take a breath and let that breath out slowly, open your ears, open your mind, the other songs hit deep. You feel the pain of someone lost, looking for something, hitting the bumps in the road, in life. Finding his rhythm getting on track if you will.

I would recommend this album to almost anyone(except my parents). Peace out.

5.0 out of 5 stars Buy the CD, Better yet see a show, November 28, 2008

I randomly saw Miles at a crappy little place in Cambridge and he was amazing. I came here to buy the CD because I had a few of the songs stuck in my head. He reminds me of Bob Dylan, Prince/Hendrix when he tortures his guitar, early Beck a little bit, I dunno, reminds me of everything really good I've heard. When I met him after the show, he seemed really young like a 16 year old kid. I tried to tell my fav ex about it only to find out she already knows and her sister's best friend is f'ing him, and she has great taste so that's one big five star endorsement. My only complaint is the voice is a little too reverby in some songs for my liking.
