This review is from: Miles and Flora (Paperback)
This book was a lamentable mess! It seriously made me question if Ms. Bailey even took the time to read the original tale. What she did to Henry James haunting tale disturbs me as a dear fan of Turn of the Screw. Giving the governess a name was slightly forgivable; however, when Mrs. Grose and Elaine (the governess) went down to Bly and started having satanic rituals to bring back Quint? Not acceptable.

The premise of the story was also absurd and made little sense. Flora is all grown up and living with the uncle (the same one who shunned both her and her brother as children) and aunt. She is engaged to be married. Things are going great until she sees the ghost of her dead brother, Miles. He is dressed in a soldier's uniform and looks a great deal older than he did when he died. What's is up with that?

I barely managed to get through the train-wreck. If I weren't such a fan of the original story, I wouldn't have bothered.

In short, do not buy this awful book. You'll only give yourself a headache. I suggest re-reading the original and renting one of the film versions instead.
