4.0 out of 5 stars Great
Had to fix a cabinet and there was no room to drill a hole. This thing works great, is inexpensive and lets you work in a tight area. Seems to be constructed well. Note that you'll need to get a drill bit with a 1/4" end to use it with this product.

This attachment works well if you ignore the grinding noise from the mechanism. It will not make the noise if you hold it just so but it's difficult to do so. DO NOT be tempted use it with an impact driver. That's how I broke mine (stripped the mechanism) an impact driver is too much for the tool unless you dril pilot holes. For driving screws in low torque applications it does fine. If you are driving screws into hardwood with an impact driver and no pilot holes, be prepared to break it as this tool will not be able to handle the touque. I would only recommend this tool for occasional use.

1.0 out of 5 stars Mistake in buying this product!, July 12, 2009

This angle driver was a complete wast of my time and money!

I purchased this product to drive wood screws into plywood on my boat. The driver broke on the first screw! I was using a #10x1 screw and driving into unfinished 5/8" plywood!

1.0 out of 5 stars Great idea, but very poor quality, January 15, 2011

This review is from: Milescraft 1302 Drive90 Right Angle Drilling and Driving Power Drill Attachment with 1/4-Inch Hex Quick Change Drive and Magnetic 1/4-inch Socket (Tools & Home Improvement)
The general idea of this product is great. Its low profile allows doing job in very tight places. Unfortunately it failed during the first use. Long axis has moved out under load because it is held inside plastic body just on friction. This caused disengagement of gears. I went to manufacturer's website and read their instructions that do not allow drilling holes more that 3/8 in wood. Even tightening of 2inch screws assumes higher force. What a screwdriver is it that you cannot tighten even small screws?
Return policy however is great!

Even before I put this in a drill I could tell there would be some trouble and I would have to be careful with it. There is a property of gear mesh called wink, and this 90 degree drive design allows it to vary. When you put any pressure on the shaft which chucks into the drill, it causes the gears to mesh together and jam. When you pull back on the shaft, it pulls the gears too far apart, which will cause the stress to all be on the outermost part of the teeth and cause premature wear. If they had spent one more dollar putting in a thrust plate and washer, it would have kept the gear spacing, or wink, constant, which would have been ideal.
That said, this does the job, you just have to be careful not to push the power drill hard into the tool when you use it. I usually give tools that just barely do the job only three stars (I buy and rate a lot of tools at Amazon), but because this is the smallest profile 90 degree drill adapter I have ever used or even seen, I am giving it an extra star for that.
This, in combination with the stubby drill bits I also purchased, allows me to drill in the smaller spaces than any other 90 degree drill tool I have, and I have several.
The magnetic hex base allows the use of both snap lock hex drill bits and the small hex multi-tool screwdriver bits as well. It is not a snap-lock tool, it depends on a magnet at the bottom of the hex shaped hole to hold the bits in place. This does cause the bits to stick further out of the tool than a true snap lock check would, but that is part of the tradeoff for the small profile of the tool.
The drill bit supplied with mine is out of true, meaning the tip makes a circle when you spin it. Its the same effect as if the bit was bent. Its worthless and I've thrown it away, but it wasn't much of a feature anyway. I didn't buy the tool for the drill bit that came with it.
Overall, I like it because it fits in tight places, but I do wish they had spent the extra little bit to hold the drive shaft in place and thus had constant gear wink, had that been done I would have called it excellent and given it five stars. Unfortunately, adding a thrust plate and washer is not a modification you can easily retrofit in a home workshop, it has to be designed into the tool. For that reason, I expect to have to replace it a few years, maybe by then they will have a new model that doesn't have this one defect.

5.0 out of 5 stars For tight spaces, cannot be beat!, October 5, 2010

This review is from: Milescraft 1302 Drive90 Right Angle Drilling and Driving Power Drill Attachment with 1/4-Inch Hex Quick Change Drive and Magnetic 1/4-inch Socket (Tools & Home Improvement)
This right angle drill attachment fits into very tight spaces. Allows drilling (or screw-tightening) very close to the edge of a cabinet or other space, WITHOUT MARRING the adjacent woodwork. The bit holder is small and does NOT rotate externally while drilling. The rotation is all internal. So nothing can rub up against your work to create scratches or rub marks. The drill you will be attaching the unit into will have a normal chuck (probably fairly large in diameter)that will rotate externally while drilling-- and it can mar your surrounding work surface. But this right angle extension keeps the big spinning chuck away from your work. The holder requires hex-tipped attachments (typical screw-driver bits with hex-ends, and drill bits with hex-ends). The drill bits with hex ends are readily available, but not as available as standard drill bits. One issue, though, is that drill bits with 1/4" hex ends have limited size-availability. The largest diameter drill bit with a hex end that I could find (Amazon) is a 3/8" diameter stubby wood bit. Mostly, 1/4" diam (max) bits are available at your local hardware stores. I needed a little bit bigger hole than 1/4", so, in my case, I had to "grind" the hole bigger by moving the drill bit around in the hole while drilling.
The right angle drill attachment is very inexpensive for what it does. There are other right angle attachments on the market, but they are large and clunky-- and will have a large chuck that turns while drilling. My only complaint is that the drill bits tend to fall out, since there is no pressure lock thing-a-ma-jig on the hex insertion end of the attachment. But, on the whole, a great tool to have -- even if you think you don't need it now. When you really need it, it will be too late.

This tool is well made and perfect for turning screws at right angles. The critical dimension is that the top of the tool is 1 1/4" wide. In my case, I wanted to install a pull in front of my sink but under the countertop there was only 2" between the outside of the sink basin and the inner edge of the cabinet frame. When you allow a 1/4" or so for a drill bit and some room to maneuver it results in a max tool area slightly larger than 1 1/4". This little tool allowed me to turn the screws that hold the pull in a space that few tools or attachments, including a right angle hand screwdriver, could reach. I think some electric right angle drills might be too large to get into a 2" space also when leaving room for the drill bit and maneuverability. My conclusion: It is an essential tool for the home DIY-er who wants to be prepared to handle any situation. It could probably drill into soft materials fine and perhaps hard woods but I have not tried it for drilling. I am very happy and did not give 5/5 stars because it seems a few dollars overpriced for a hand tool.

I'm a mechanic and I bought this for a particular job that I get ( cabin filters on new renault megane 3's). The job is done in less than half the time as the screws are dificult to reach . For light stuff it's great , I havent tried driling or tight srews or bolt yet but for what I do it's faultless.
