5.0 out of 5 stars This thing is fantastic!
In an electrical retro-fit, I needed to put some holes through some wall studs in a tight corner of a room in order to run some Romex wiring. After cutting openings in the sheetrock, the angled drive allowed me to drill some clean, straight holes through the studs in a matter of minutes. The handle works well and is easy to change from one side to the other, though I...

I've owned this right angle attachment for about a year and used it about ten times. It's the kind of tool I wish I had never purchased - it works, just not very well. Since it's not defective, and the cost is low, I never bothered returning it.

I've owned this right angle attachment for about a year and used it about ten times. It's the kind of tool I wish I had never purchased - it works, just not very well. Since it's not defective, and the cost is low, I never bothered returning it.

Pros:
- easy to use, and it seems moderately robust with it's combination of metal gears and bushings housed in a thick plastic casing.
- low cost
Cons:
- does not run true. If you put a pencil in the chuck it will trace a circle of more than 1/8". This is fine for rough work like drilling large holes through studs with a spade bit. For most anything else I find the wobble in the chuck renders it unacceptable.
- big and bulky. The large size of this item makes it only slightly more useful than a small drill, especially when you take into account the large amount of runout in the chuck.

Summary:
Most of the time when I reach for this tool, I wind up putting it back and not using it, either because chuck runout is too excessive, or the bulk is such that I can find numerous better ways to do the job using quality tools.

Construction is metal gears, metal bushings, loosely held in a thick plastic case.

Save your money and spend it on a better quality tool.

3.0 out of 5 stars Not a substitute for a true right angle drill, November 18, 2008
This review is from: Milescraft 1390 Drill90 Right Angle Drilling and Driving Power Drill Attachment (Tools & Home Improvement)
I give this product 3 stars mostly because at under $20 it is relatively inexpensive and it is useful for a narrow range of jobs. Otherwise, it is for light use only and is a poor substitute for a true right angle drill.

Positives:
* It is relatively inexpensive compared to other options.
* It will do in a bind if you only need to drill a few small holes.
* It is small and easy to keep on hand.

Negatives
* It is hard to control without the handle. The handle helps, but gets in the way.
* Unless you have your hand right over the head, it is awkward for driving screws as it will flop from side to side or try to spin if you do not hold it. But that tends to make it less versatile as now your hand has to be in the tight spot too. After a while, I just picked up a screwdriver.
* It feels and sounds cheaply made.
* The gearing is not designed to take a lot of torque. I would not dare try a hole saw with this.
* The chuck is not keyless.

The bottom line is that it is nowhere as useful as I expected. I will stick with a right angle drill.

1.0 out of 5 stars Very Poor Quality, November 18, 2009
This review is from: Milescraft 1390 Drill90 Right Angle Drilling and Driving Power Drill Attachment (Tools & Home Improvement)
I used this attachment one time right out of the box and the plastic gear housing cracked wide open. Very cheap plastic is used as the frame and housing for the gear drive. Even though the drive gears and axles are made of metal. I was very disappointed. Home Depot did give me my money back.

After cutting openings in the sheetrock, the angled drive allowed me to drill some clean, straight holes through the studs in a matter of minutes. The handle works well and is easy to change from one side to the other, though I found myself often working without it at all, just holding the drill attachment itself.

I highly recommend this product.

3.0 out of 5 stars Great handle, but I lost the pin, November 25, 2011

It's great and very useful, but the proprietary square-head pin that attaches the red grip handle was lost!! I disassembled the unit to fit into my low drawer before storing it.

I wish that there was a special bag to store the whole unit, or a grove on the side of the unit to store the handle and the pin.

This right angle drill attachment worked as advertised to enable me to drill holes in the top plate of a couple of walls. I did not notice any wobble, but it probably would not have mattered in this usage anyway.

I keep the key chucked in the unit so it doesn't get lost in my "storage".

4.0 out of 5 stars It Works, March 4, 2009

The Milescraft right angle drill attachment works as advertised. The chuck holds a firm grip even on a fairly large bit which was a pleasant surprise. The handle is big, solid, and gives good control. I plan to use this attachment for occasional work and don't expect it to stand up to any kind of production demands, that's a job for a real right angle drill. Certainly any work that would generate heat in the mechanism of this attachment should be a sign to slow down.

I am extremely pleased with this right-angle tool. It is well constructed and made drilling through the wall studs a breeze, all at an affordable price. The only reason I gave it 4 stars instead of 5 is beacuase it does not have a keyless chuck - or at least a place to store the key.
