4.0 out of 5 stars Fun though a bit tricky
I ordered three of these to make gifts/keep one, and put my children's handprints in the middle instead of the mushroom. The kit comes complete with all you need, and the instructions are clear for the most part. Mixing can be tiring (my husband mixed all three of ours), and both the dry and wet cement tends to get EVERYwhere. The project is a MULTIPLE step process. With...

3.0 out of 5 stars One little glitch....
My daughter had a great time with this product! Creating the marble pictures and creating the stone was fun for her. Only problem is that if you use photos, which she did, the water from the cement mix rises to the top and seeps into the marble photos, destroying them. So the finished product was rather disappointing. They key would be to wait until the excess water on...

4.0 out of 5 stars Fun though a bit tricky, May 4, 2010

I ordered three of these to make gifts/keep one, and put my children's handprints in the middle instead of the mushroom. The kit comes complete with all you need, and the instructions are clear for the most part. Mixing can be tiring (my husband mixed all three of ours), and both the dry and wet cement tends to get EVERYwhere. The project is a MULTIPLE step process. With careful/thorough planning ahead, each of our garden stones turned out great, but we had definitely improved by the third time. Most importantly, don't add too much water. A tablespoon at a time, as suggested; it's worth the patience.

5.0 out of 5 stars flipping over these flip flops, August 8, 2011

I really liked making these. They are very cute. The molds are reusable and I buy "quik-crete" (available at your local hardware store, 10 lbs for $2.99) and use a variety of design mediums besides glass. I buy craft stones at my local dollar store.

Be patient, give it plenty of time to set. You can also cut a piece chicken wire a little smaller than the mold and put it in the middle of the cement and this will help strengthen you stone.

Purchased this to make and give to the Grandparents. The mold was a little mishaped once I received it but it did not alter the finished appearance so it wasn't a big deal. The project itself had good directions and it turned out great. Placing the layout on a seperate piece of paper before pouring the cement was very helpful as it takes some time to arrange each little piece.

great product, great project, Easy for adults and the kiddos with supervision. Forms or heavy enough to reuse, plan on making several more for the veg garden.

5.0 out of 5 stars Awesome, Easy, Looks Great!!!, June 27, 2008
I made this stone last week and it looks fantastic. The only problem I had was that I couldn't get the eyes to stay in with the glue they have in the kit, so when the whole thing was dry I super glued them in. I've already recieved tons of compliments on it!

5.0 out of 5 stars Everything you need, December 25, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This has everything you need to make a garden stone. We put handprints of our kids and they enjoyed decorating and then we gave them as gifts to grandparents. It came with a ton of glass pieces to decorate and the directions were clear. Take your time and add water slowly.

I bought four of these when we moved so we left our four children's hand prints in our neighbors garden. They were easy to make with great directions. I did everything according to what it said and we have given them some of the best keep sakes possible. If you are trying to figure out what to get that grandparent who has everything...give them this gift to decorate their garden. It will be a joy for years to come!

5.0 out of 5 stars Fun to do with kids, August 4, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
I had lots of fun making this with my 4 year old (and then helping my 18 month old mash his hand into the wet concrete for a better-than-expected handprint). We let it dry/cure for 4 or 5 days in the plastic mold provided in the kit and it's held up to daily stepping by the kids in the garden for a month so far. The glitter has long since sloughed off, but in every other way, this has met my expectations.
