This review is from: Militarist Millionaire Peacenik: Memoir of a Serial Entrepreneur (Paperback)
This book covers three aspects of Alan F. Kay's life, but it really is a reflection of our changing world. His youth included delivered ice and today he can order ice from the most exotic places, right from his office computer. The changes he was involved with are remarkable, from post-WWII creativity to 21st century ferocity. For the history buff, this inside look at how early computing facilitated business is a must read. For the computer geek, it is impressive to see how far we've come. For the pacifist, it is encouraging that men and women like Kay are willing to devote time and money for peace. The book is inspiring, easy to read and devoid of the self-deprecation or, worse, self-congratulation of many memoirs. I strongly recommend it.
