Best book on the history of Roundels,

Its a big surprise that no one as yet has plugged in a review for the best book ever published on this esoteric subject and hence after so many years I am plugging a short one.I was one of the first to buy a copy in Aug 1998 from Airlife John Cochrane/Elliot have put in a tremendous labour of love in compiling historical information in a country wise chronological order on every conceivable and includes defunct countries as well and depicting the same with roundels , fin flashes on a profile and a potted history . Of course there are a few omissions like Chechynia ,some historical roundels missed which is to be expected etc However this is much more comprehensive than Robertson's Aircraft camouflage and Markings pub in 1967 which was the sole authority . We desperately need a second edition - hopefully a hard back in a bigger size. |
