This review is from: Military Journal of the American Revolution (Eyewitness Accounts of the American Revolution) (Hardcover)
This work by James Thacher, M.D., is a personal account of his experiences with the American Revoultionary army from the siege of Boston in 1775 to the Yorktown campaign in late 1781. His journal covers the battles of Long Island, Trenton, Brandywine, Germantown, Valley Forge, Monmouth, Morristown, Cowpens, the arrival of the French fleet and the ill-fated Penobscot expedition. He also served at Ft. Ticonderoga and Saratoga. Written by an educated man, Thacher's journal presents a vital portrait of the war. His presence at so many crucial incidents during the war makes this work invaluable to the researcher or student of the American Revolution. It is recognized as a classic from this period. END
