The Egyptian Army,
By Vanguard "Van" (UK) - See all my reviews
This review is from: A Military History of Modern Egypt: From the Ottoman Conquest to the Ramadan War (Praeger Security International) (Hardcover)
A thoroughly satisfying book, and given the paucity of information on the subject, most welcome for committed historians. The author could have expanded somewhat on the reorganization of the army following the occupation of Egypt by the British. Michael Asher's "Khartoum", for example, is informative about the units which served in the reoccupation of the Sudan.
The role of the Egyptian forces in the first Gulf War would have rounded off the subject nicely. However, all in all, a very useful book. |
