3.0 out of 5 stars Adds variety to basic milk-free recipes, December 14, 2007
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Milk-Free, Egg-Free Recipes for Children (Paperback)
First of all, this book is from the UK and a lot of the recipes are not basic American cooking (like fish flan?). So I wouldn't recommend this as the foundation of one's milk-free recipe collection. But if you already have a collection of favorite recipes, this book can add some variety. It also has a section on baby foods so you can begin cooking for a milk-allergic child from toddlerhood. The desert section is good, lots of interesting puddings. The book also has helpful recipes for basic white sauces and "cream" type sauces, which a lot of people think they have to do without when diagnosed with a milk allergy. The book was originally published in the 80's I think, so a lot of margarine is used, whereas today people would probably just use oil in place of melted margarine, to avoid the transfat whenever possible.
