2.0 out of 5 stars very little guidance, November 9, 2006

This review is from: The Milk Soy Protein Intolerance (MSPI) Guidebook/Cookbook (Paperback)
I bought this book because my son has MSPI, hopeful of all the information I would learn regarding his affliction. I was very disappointed. This is basically a cookbook that has uninspired recipes, and little medical information. If you can read labels and substitute rice milk for cow's milk in your recipes, you already have the majority of the information in this cookbook.

A Kid's Review
This review is from: The Milk Soy Protein Intolerance (MSPI) Guidebook/Cookbook (Paperback)
This book helped me out so much. I was so lost when my first baby was hospitalized for milk/soy protein allergies. I was forced to discontinue breastfeeding and put him on very very expensive formula that had to be specially ordered from the pharmacy that insurance would not cover. When I was expecting my second child I did my research determined I would be able to breastfeed this time around. This is how I came across this book. I found most of the information I needed in this book as to what I could and couldn't eat as well as some great recipes. I was able to successfully breastfeed my daughter for a year when I weaned her. That was a year and a half ago. This book is so good I still choose to follow the diet. My children have grown out of their allergies but I still use many recipes from the cookbook portion of the book. I would highly recommend this guide.

Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: The Milk Soy Protein Intolerance (MSPI) Guidebook/Cookbook (Paperback)
This cookbook is by a mother who breastfed her dairy/soy allergic infant and these are the tips and recipes she used to make doing so manageable.

Some of the recipes are upscale (pesto etc.) - but they run the gamut. She has great advice about how to manage eating out at restaurants, friends', etc., and shopping lists too.

This recipe made my own diet, also limited by a dairy/soy allergic breastfed infant, much more manageable. I have since given a copy to my Pediatrician so she has it available for other mothers to whom she suggests this diet, because I know it can seem really overwhelming at first!
