5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent Battery Charger, July 21, 2002

This thing does it all, does the dishes, cleans the toliet, vacums the carpet AND charges the batteries! No more burning the batteries with this little gizmo. It has a processor on board that is smart enough to know when enough is enough so it will stop charging when it needs to, red light(charging)-green light(finished). You don't need to check the charging time anymore. You can leave the batteries in the charger until you need to use them, always have freshly topped off batteries ready when you are. This charger will do 8-AA's, 2-9volt, 4-C's or 4-D's, but can't do all of them at one time. It CAN do the 8-AA's at one time!!! This is a GREAT charger!

Unlike most other rechargers this one charges batteries to the correct voltage then stops, not just on a timer.
I think it's great.

5.0 out of 5 stars The 5 hr charge makes it worth while, June 15, 2001
This review is from: Millenium CH4 5-Hours Universal Nickel-Metal Hydride Battery Charger (Electronics)
The fact is charges in five hours makes it a keeper. Here in California where we have rolling blackouts and live with the constant threat of earthquakes having reliable charged batteries in varies sizes is a must. And a charger that handles various size batteries and not just one size is a must. Personally I believe in owning two and keeping them full of batteries that are charged and rotated in various appliances weekly.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great for electronic prototyping, March 15, 2003
By A Customer
This review is from: Millenium CH4 5-Hours Universal Nickel-Metal Hydride Battery Charger (Electronics)
I design and build electronic circuits for equipment and robots, and having plenty of batteries around for breadboarding and plugging into robots being tested is extremely handy. I've tried NiCad batteries and was not happy with their performance. I've used regular alkaline batteries, and although they offer the best performance, they're more expensive in the long run and worse yet, have to be dropped into a landfill or something when they're dead. I've used the Millenium charger for AA, AAA, and 9V batteries and I'm very satisfied with them, although when their charge drops off, it drops off fast. I use a pair of AAAs in my cordless headphones, and they last for weeks of regular use. I use AAs and 9Vs in my electronic prototyping work, and will soon be getting some Ds for my Maglite (flashlight).
The only concern I have with this battery system is that the charger doesn't seem to work properly with 9V batteries -- the LED never changes to green. Other than that, no complaints at all.

5.0 out of 5 stars I like it, October 7, 2002

This review is from: Millenium CH4 5-Hours Universal Nickel-Metal Hydride Battery Charger (Electronics)
Like most other reviewers, I find this to be a great little device and it certainly does what it is designed to do. 5 hours is a very workable time frame and then to be able to leave them there longer without fear of over-charging is great too. I only charge double-A's and have not tried doubling up on any batteries to do 8 at a time (see other reviews for the argument), but I would guess that even if it showed tht it was charging, it might not be wise to do, as it is not designed for such. I bought 2 so that I could do 8 batteries without worry. The unit is attractive too! Go for it.

This is a nice charger with CPU control. It will charge pairs of AAA, AA, C, D and 9-volt. Batteries have to be in matched pairs. It will not charge 8 AA's at one time. You can lay AA's on top of each other and think you are charging them but a closer look will show the bottom pair is not making contact. The power supply is separate from the charger which allows you to plug it in and move the charger around on your benchtop. The LED's do indicate if the batteries are charged but again this is by pairs and not individually.

Why can't somebody build a NiMH CPU controlled charger that can charge a bank of 16 AA cells and maintain them at full power until I pull them? There must be a reason because all the chargers I ever see are for 4 cells only.

What can I say? It does a great job and it was less expensive than the alternatives at the time I purchased it. Mine works absolutely great - no complaints at all. It is not one of those quicky chargers, but if you can wait a fe hours, it is the best choice (IMO). I have always been of the belief that a slower charge is better anyway.
