I bought this product for my power hungry digital camera which can't get enough of AA batteries. Since my digital camera only use AAs this little charger is adequate. After using it for about a month I very satisfied with it's performance and ease of use.

This product is rugged(kid tested), inexpensive and very functional as it allows you to charge both NiCd and NiMH. The batteries that come with it are NiMH so they do not have the "memory" problems of the NiCd. The only flaw I could find is that the instructions said that the light would turn green when the batteries were fully charged. In fact the light just went out. Otherwise it is a good solid product with a great price.

The charging time is faily long - about 12 hours for a full charge. The batteries are rated 1600 mAH and compare favorably with some major brands such as Energizer which has only 1400 mAH. The charger is very compact because the compartment holds 2 batteries in front of 2. Also, the plug can fold flat against the charger making this an excellent charger to take along on trips. The plug is located high on the charger. If you plug this into the lower outlet, the upper outlet is not blocked. Very good value especially considering the low price.

1.0 out of 5 stars Bad Chargers, March 3, 2002

In good faith I ordered this battery charger which promptly arrived. The unit would not charge the batteries and the indicator lights would not work. It was returned to the manufacturer at a cost of ... and a different one was promptly sent.

The new unit arrived and would charge the batteries as indicated, but would not shut down when the batteries became fully charged. It had to cycle completely for 13 or 14 hours.

If you installed fully charged batteries the unit would not indicate this but would recharge the batteries again for a full cycle of 13-14 hours. The unit and batteries became very hot with no indication of the shutoff working.

I wrote to the company again and after the passing of nearly one month, they sent me another charger which did the same thing. Also they said they would call me for return instructions, which they did after three more weeks lapsed. They made arrangements to have the unit picked up and I stayed home for a full day waiting. I am still waiting for the pickup or some word from the company.

They are terrible and do not live up to their word. I would never buy from the company again. They also indicated that they had problems with the unit.

5.0 out of 5 stars It worked fine for me, November 19, 2002

I got this charger and battery set several months ago and used the charger to charge both NiMH and old NiCd batteries. So far, I have no complaints myself. The LEDs on my charger do become green after the charging is done. At the time I bought this charger, there were several negative reviews about defective charger but I thought it probably worth the risk since the price is not too much more than just the batteries. I guess the plant that manufactured the charger is not ISO 9000 certified and may have a higher defective rate than the brands of much higher cost. But they ought to make much more good ones so I believe your chance to get a functional one is still good if you are willing to take a little risk here.

2.0 out of 5 stars The charger is not bad, the battery is really poor..., July 15, 2002
This review is from: Millenium AA-Cell Battery Wall Charger with AA-Cell 4-Pack Rechargeable Power Cells (Electronics)
The charger is not bad although charging time is very long. Well, the price is low and it is said that slow charge is better for the battery. But the battery is really poor... From the words on the battery, I guess it is 1700mah, however, someone told me that it is 1600 mah. I compared the battery with the panasonic 1600mah ni-MH battery I got...panasonic worked 5 hours and 45 minutes, while Millenium worked only 4 hours and 30 minutes. Poor battery! I will never buy batteries without capacity on its label. It is sure that the manufacturer is not confident about its capacity/quality.

I ignored previous reviews that the charger base's so-called green light (indicating a full battery charge) frequently didn't work. Lo and behold, the green light indicator didn't work on my charger base. Who cares? After the suggested 14 hour charge time, I checked the batteries in a tester and noticed they were fully charged. My daughter uses the batteries in her portable CD player instead of going through alkaline batteries like candy. She gets over 10 hours of continuous MP3 play with these beauties. We are saving money by avoiding the purchase of umpteen alkaline batteries and saving precious space in our local landfill. In my opinion a win/win situation.

5.0 out of 5 stars they just kept going and going..., December 29, 2002
This review is from: Millenium AA-Cell Battery Wall Charger with AA-Cell 4-Pack Rechargeable Power Cells (Electronics)
I bought this charger and batteries to use with my digital camera, hard to beat the price.

I read somewhere that it is a good idea to condition the batteries, so I charged them (yes the green light worked) and then put the batteries into a small cassette radio to drain them. Talk about life, it took 22 hours to run the batteries down. I can't compare them to the newer more powerful batteries, but these 4 rated at 1600 mah should work well.

An important feature if you're going to be travelling with this charger is that the plug can be folded into the body so that the plug blades do not stick out.

From first impressions, this gets 5 stars for value and for initial functionality. If I have any problems with it, I'll report back, but so far am very pleased.

Worked great right out of the box. Took a little longer than expected for the first charge, but now us it exclusively for my digital cameras. Contrary toa prevous report, the "green light" worked fine.

I bought my first set of these things literally a decade ago, and shock of shocks they still work (NiCd variant). I used to consider their lifetime warranty something of a joke. I bought another set recently and am quite happy - these are NiMH.

As I mentioned in my title, every thing looked good about this puppy except when I went to use it, the little red light stayed
lit for > 24 hours. Don't know if it was the batteries or the
charger but bottom line it doesn't work as designed.
