5.0 out of 5 stars CLASSY TUNEFUL POP, July 11, 2000
This review is from: Millennium Edition (Audio CD)
Colin Vearncombe who is Black has won many hearts with his talent for wrapping delicious melodies around intriguing little narratives, as in Wonderful Life, The Big One and You Don't Always Do (What's Best For You). The dreamy Wonderful Life has even been used for a Cadbury's ad. Fly Up To The Moon, a duet with Sam Brown, could easily have turned into a cliche but the way the voices blend and soar makes it special. Vearncombe specialises in understatement, and what may appear bland at first listen soon turns addictive. This is a great album but I miss the songs Learning How To Hate and Sweet Breath Of Your Rapture from his 3rd album "Black."

5.0 out of 5 stars Brilliant masterful music, March 4, 2010
This review is from: Millennium Edition (Audio CD)
Could not agree more with the comment above. Black is one the most overlooked brilliant and unique artists that may be somewhat demanding to the listener but captivating and addictive once you develop a feel for his style and learn to appeciate the musical arrangements. A delightful listen every single time! Lots of class.
