Currency Trouble,

If you like the classic Monopoly, this is the same game, with a few upgrades that unfortunately aren't worth it. The Millinium Edition has a new style of almost transparent plastic currency that is difficult to read. If you hold a bill in your hands for only a few seconds it begins to curl so much so that you cannot read the denomination. Sure, the plastic is trendy and more durable but it curls up and won't uncurl unless pressed flat applying warmth. AND the shiny holographic surface of the board looks great, but try picking up the card stacks to replace a played card. The surface is too slippery. The only upgrades I liked were the new tokens and the stacking houses.

They'res so many Monopolys now but this one is surely the funnest to play. The board is really shiny and the houses and hotels are really smart, they glow on they're edges and you can stack them up. The money's a bit flawed, it can get creased very easily which is a shame because everything else is perfect. The best part has to be the new tokens, the boring old wheelbarrow has been taken away and in it's place are celphones and computers! A must have for Christmas and the best Monopoly in years

Millennium upgrade on fun,

I like the changes that were made in some of the aspects of the game to give it a millennium feel. The re-styled game pieces (cell phone, etc.) were welcome additions. The houses and hotels were snazzy-looking. Some drawbacks: the play money is very hard to work with. Also, the tin that the game comes in is not as sturdy as it looks. I now keep the tin in the plasic casing it came it after it was dented (rather easily) a few times. Of course, there are some packing errors everyone is talking about with the dice (I didn't get any nice shiny dice as pictured on the outside of the box). Also, some of the cards were missing, and I had to get replacement cards from Hasbro (which came a few weeks later). I guess it's hard to make a Monopoly game that's going to satisfy consumers since it's such a beloved game, but, hey, if Hasbro is going to make it, they need to take extra care and do it right.

Firstly, I've already written a review here which I wrote when I first got the game, now that I've had time to play with it for a while, serious flaws have turned up. 1: The boards shiny, silvery surface looks so cool on the box, actually causes the board to curl which means your pieces slide right of the property squares, knocking down your houses. 2: The money. At first I knew the oney curled up but it didn't really bother me, now I've played with it a lot more, the money really starts to bug you as each note is practicly a see-saw! 3: The outer transparent box. After you've put the tin in and out the box for a while, the lid will begin to tear and if your not careful, will rip off completely. For the price this isn't worth it if your going to be using it as a family game. This is only worth it if your never going to play it and keep it as a collectable.

There is no better way to welcome the new millenium than with this special edition of Monopoly. Being a serious fan of the game, I won mine off the website and have played it numerous times. If you enjoy Monopoly at all you MUST have this edition. Its my favorite one, and I own A LOT of these games. The board and pieces take Monopoly to a new level. For more fun, play under blacklites: the houses and hotels glow.

The Game was pretty neat, and everything was in transcript for the new millennium. EXCEPT.... The Money. It's transparency was pretty cool, but, if you held it even fo a short while, it will curl. Only heat will make it uncurl. The suface of the board is also very cool. But, you try to pick up the cards after drawing a chance card. It's too slick!

Hasbro is in serious danger of a class action lawsuit here. Ipurchased this game as a Christmas gift for a young neighbor. Uponopening it he was very upset to see plain black dice instead of the futuristic jewel dice advertised. I then started calling Hasbro to get him the right dice. After many attempts I was finally told that there was a "manufacturing problem" with the futuristic dice and they were "replaced" by plain black dice. The furtistic dice are no longer available. I explained to them that they advertised this product as a "Collector's Item" and then took out one of the collector pieces without saying anything which to me is the old bait-and-switch. Hasbro has not made this situation public (I searched their web site for a press release) and continues to sell and advertise the game (at its original retail price of course) as if it contains futuristic dice. Hasbro will send you regular square dice that are in the jewel like orange color if you request it...call 888-836-7025 and be prepared to get a busy signal on your first 15 attempts!

Monopoly has always been a fun, capricious, competitive game. The Millinium Edition, however, has a new style of currency which is nearly transparent making it extremely difficult to read; and bieng printed on thin plastic it creases easily and permantntly. The die also is just as hard to read. It's hard to believe such a snafu got by the testing stage.

The special edition Millenium Monopoly is a great turn of the century gift. It is durable, has the perfect look, and will bring fun to January 1, 2000. This is much more durable than the cardboard and will hopefully bring out the kid in you!

I'm a huge Monopoly fan and I was thrilled when I got the Millennium Monopoly but when I got it out of the box for the first time, I don't have the brand new "precious-jewel-like" die that are featured in the rulebook and on the box. Has anyone else had this problem or am I the only one? If you have experienced a problem with this, please e-mail me so I can know how many other people have the black die. Thanks!
