Product Description

The Kalahari is 100,000 square miles of hostile African Desert.  The Hoodia Gordonii plant grows in the Kalahari Desert region of South Africa and although it looks like a cactus it is categorized as a succulent.  Cactus does not grow in South Africa. The Hoodia plant has been used for centuries by the San People of the Kalahari to stave off pain, hunger and thirst when they travelled for weeks, months and even years across the vast desert.  The San people number in the 100,000 population range and with the Hoodia plant marketed around the world, will see riches beyond their imagination.

4.0 out of 5 stars Stops Binge Eating Dead, March 3, 2008
This review is from: Millennium Health Supplements Hoodia Hoodia Capsules, 400 Mg, 60-Count Bottle (Health and Beauty)
I have a ravinous appetite. Once I start eating - it's difficult to stop. Portion control means nothing to me. My weight has gotton to the point that I can't do the things I really enjoy like skiing and hiking.
This product is not a panecea. It doesn't take away any thought of food for me like it seems to for other people. I find it makes it much easier to plan for meals and eat the right amounts. One thing I discovered - heavier people need more product. It makes sense. So don't give up if you think it's not working - try taking more per day and well before the time you eat. The recommended 1 hour is not enough for me. It definitely makes a difference - I'm taking off 3-5 lbs per week.

This is the third hoodia product that I've tried and it works. It curbs your appetite. Make sure you drink at least 10-12 ounces of H2O when you take the hoodia and throughout the day.

5.0 out of 5 stars here's how it worked for me, February 20, 2011

This review is from: Millennium Health Supplements Hoodia Hoodia Capsules, 400 Mg, 60-Count Bottle (Health and Beauty)
this is my experience with hoodia - specifically this brand, millenium health - so far

i did some research on appetite suppresants before deciding to try hoodia. i had lost weight following nutrisystem, 30 pounds, and kept it off successfully, but i still have about 100 pounds to lose, so i wanted some help.

i can't take stimulants because of some other medications i take, and had heard good and bad about hoodia, so i decided to give it a try. i then did a little bit of research about the different brands, strengths, and claims of the different hoodia products. what i learned told me that there were only three importers of actual hoodia gordonii, one of which is millenium health. i checked out all three websites and decided to try millenium health since one of the other suppliers was twice the cost of millenium health and the other supplier was 3 times the cost.

i ordered one bottle about a week ago. it arrived two days ago, and i started taking it yesterday morning. i noticed nothing. i took it again at night. i took it again this morning.

i had heard two things about hoodia. one, from millenium health's website said to give the product a month to begin working, and i was prepared to give it that long. two, i had heard from my other research and reviews from people who said it worked for them that hoodia suppresses both appetite AND THIRST, so if you take it you have to have an eating plan AND a water intake plan so as not to dehydrate yourself and adversely affect your health.

it is now the end of the second day on hoodia. now, understand that the medication that i take affects how fast i metabolise any other things that i put it my body. this means that if i drink 1 beer for instance, it takes my body longer to clear it from my system than if i were not taking my medication. or, for instance, if i added a second medication to my daily regimen, whereas without my current medication i might have to take two pills of the second medication to keep that medication at or above a current level in my bloodstream, with my current medication it might only take one pill of the second medication to keep it at or above the same level. so, that might be the reason i experienced hoodia the way i did. or, it might not be affecting it at all.

here's my experience so far; all of today, not only have i had no appetite, but the act of eating is actually distasteful to me. i feel gross after one bite of food, and i can;t eat any more. i'm aware of being hungry, but it is nowhere near uncomfortable to be so, and i eat one bite, and then i'm not hungry anymore. this supplement has REALLY made it evident to me that MOST of the times i eat, if not all, it has not been because i am hungry, but because i am bored, or just eating for fun or diversion. and when i do pick up food for those purposes, i take one bite and it is all i can do to keep from spitting it out. i have noticed absolutely no side effects so far, including no problems with the medication i take. i have not noticed a difference in thirst as of yet. if you are going to use this appetite suppressant, definitely have an eating plan already outlined for you. definitely make sure you are taking a multivitamin so that you are doing your best to get adequate nutrients into your body. definitely have a water intake plan outlined.

plans for the future; i take the vitamin shoppe ultimate women's daily paks every day (i HIGHLY recommend these vitamins, i used to have medically intolerable periods, now i have no symptoms of pms and it is ALL thanks to these vitamins). i use nutrisystem and will cointinue to do so on hoodia. i will continue to use hoodia, this brand, and i have not decided yet whether i will stay with two pills daily or cut back to just one. i also own a treadmill which i actually use for exercise( i also highly recommend treadmill ownership, i'm emotionally attached to my treadmill, who i have named Ivan the Treadmill, because i am a (fat) nerd (soon to be a skinny nerd).)

i will update this review as i continue using this product.
