With this 1999 release, along with Comet, Medwyn Goodall leaves his trademark panpipes on the shelf and adds a new branch to his already prolific catalog tree. With this exploration into "Ambient/Space/Modern" sounds, he did not abandon his music about nature, ancient Andean cultures or the legends of Medieval England. New CDs continue to flow from these categories as well. Millennium is just another window that allows us to visit Goodall's genius. He claims to have been influenced by Dire Straits, Yes, Vangelis, and Mike Oldfield early in his career. The Oldfield and Vangelis influences are evident in Millennium. Synthesizers provide soothing backgrounds for some very good guitar and piano work throughout. The CD has 6 "movements", each expanding on a single theme. If you are looking for more sounds of Peru or Camelot, this will be a disappointment, but if you are looking for some relaxing New Age music with pop/rock roots, Millennium will do the trick.

The "Millennium" is different from the conventional Medwyn compositions. Medwyn's trademark Preuvian flute is missing and that is the biggest letdown. I strongly recommend "Medicine woman" and "Dolphins" if you are an ardent Medwyn fan.

I can recommend this to all people who like the old style synthesizer music! I like this because it is original. Not some nice romantic music with old traditional styles. More for the logic thinking people. If he makes more music like this, I surely want to buy.
